Dipping My Toe Into 3 Axis Machining...

I've modeled the Military for full contour. I don't like tip down though... it's violates some primal tenet and I refuse to machine a tip down version.

I've exhausted my supply of pocket clip attachment backing plates for the tip up conversion and the supplier I originally contracted with to machine my first order of 50... tripled his prices when I attempted to order another 50. So the Military has gone the way of the Dodo... for me it is extinct.

bummer

those look very nice

best wishes with your business - seems like things are going well :)

Time is up for this learning phase of 3D modeling and machining. I was able to expand and broaden my knowledge base. Learned a couple of tricks and managed to machine several stellar full contour examples of my profile modified Delica designs.

I now need to get back to my backlog and knock out the queued up requests.

One last photo for now...

That all black set of Lil para Delica scale's is Gorgeous!!!
I could use more! I have a DLC Cruwear that's in need.. Lol..

Hey Steve.. What if I finished doing my Military scales, with a wire clip mod, and sent you my Military? You could look it over and see if it was a route you wanted to go?
I mean, who doesn't have a Dragonfly laying around? Or replaced a wire clip with another clip?
I think MXG makes a wire clip replacement clip, now? You could utilize.

Or made the scales and let it up to the end user, on how to carry it?

I'll try to find the thread, I was lead to, on how guys were using McMaster parts and a CRK clip.
Basically plugging the landyard tube and mounting a clip in it.

Steve, while I don't even have one yet, I think the Yojimbo 2 would be a great 3D candidate.

Watching the Chiefs/Falcons game and playing with my newly acquired 3D CAD knowledge. I'm getting more consistent and better model results with the invested time. Worked up the Yojimbo 2...!

I've also got a modified profile Yo2 that I modeled...

I agree! BOOMER52 BOOMER52 SHOULD make g10 scales for the FRN Dragonfly. :D

That's been requested a couple of times and I've resisted... but I recently ran across a blade modified Dragonfly that I really took a shine to. The work was performed by @tactical_pterodactyl_knives... and I thought I could improve it even more with some sweet machined scales! Might happen... but as yet I do not own a Dragonfly to scan and develop the necessary CAD/CAM files.

That blade looks Awesome!!!

Lmk Steve! I can send a DF2 with my Military and any others you want! Lol..

Like my Kapara! I have a 2nd one (one I didn't modify) in the mail.. lol..

With no rush on return. I have plenty to carry!

I spent this last week between Xmas and New Years expanding my knowledge base and stretching my skills in CAD 3D modeling. It's difficult in general and damn frustrating with too great a frequency... but I am adding a bit of muscle memory and a few new techniques...

I'm working on finish texture and projecting graphic tool paths onto a 3D model surface. I'm encouraged by the attached results that rendered nicely...!

The first two 3D models are a Delica/Verrazano... then a Mini CQC-7... last is a standard CQC-7...

Any hopes on military scales making a come back?

Will you be making scales for full liner pm2s?

Military scales are no longer offered. I did machine stock profile and modified profile sets in a tip up configuration until I exhausted my supply of threaded discs I had machined to mount the more standard Spyderco three hole pocket clip. I tried threaded inserts and was dissatisfied with the results. Unable to locate a machinist to resupply those discs economically enough to continue offering Military scales sets proved fruitless.

With regards to PM2 scales. I have 3D modeled the PM2 but as yet not machined a prototype set. Not certain just when that might happen.
