Disappointed in dealings with knivesanonymous

I have done many deals on this site and never had any complaints nor have had to deal with something like this.

You, me and a lot of other folks here can be happy about saying we've never had a bad deal or dissatisfied customer, but that doesn't insulate us from something potentially going awry one way or another in the future.

For what it's worth, considering that "something like this" has now happened, I would respectfully suggest adding a specific return policy, whatever you decide it should be, to your sale threads. Regardless of any other generally accepted standards or unwritten rules, disclosure of your own terms upfront never hurts.

One should never spend the money before being certain the buyer is happy. I guess the question is whether you knew there would be some kind of delay in the buyer recieving the knife. If you knew the guy was going out of Town you should have waited to hear him utter the magic words; "I am happy", without it the seller has a one-sided "deal".
Were E-mails written and sent asking you if you (buyer) got the knife? If you (seller) heard nothing from the guy I would have expected you would have waited since you would not have known the buyer even got the knife!!

The emails will make it all very clear, but I do not want to post them without the approval of Tim.

At this point one would think you have no choice unless you get word the "almost a deal" can be undone.

Also, I checked the for sale post and I would have assumed the blade still had the Mike Snody edge and not resharpened. You took such beautiful photos why not shoot the scratches? I have a knife that photos like it's brand new and I have carried it, used it and sharpened it alot. Based on what you wrote I would have expected scratches just barely visible, the edge unsharpened and the knife in overall "great" condition.

This is why a deal is not a deal until both parties are happy is so important.

I will give Tim until 5pm central time tomorrow, as it looks as though he is off the forums for the night. If I have not received word from him at that time I will post the emails back and forth.

I will now... thanks for the suggestion

Hi Tim,

I must have missed the part in your post where it said that Paypal was the only method of payment that you accept and would need to add 4% to the purchase price. I have a Paypal account and don't mind paying via Paypal, but I am not willing to pay $28 more than the offered price. If you would like I can pay by Paypal for the $700 indicated in your post or I can send you a check or USPS money order for the $700 price.

Please let me know,

Steve

Tim,

I got home last night and received the knife. Unfortunately I am not happy with it. There are many scratches on the blade and liner edges that could not be seen in the post on Bladeforums. In addition the sharpening on the blade is uneven and appears to have changed the blade geometry from a straight edge to a slight hawkbill. For $700 this knife is not right.

I just got off the phone with Mike Snody asking him about this piece and he confirmed that he did not make it with the blade shaped like this. I would like to ship the knife back to you and be refunded my money.

Thanks,

Steve

I'm sorry you are unhappy with the knife but I shipped you the knife well over a few weeks ago. With that asid i have a lot of creditabiliy on the forums i don't lie or cheat anyone. That knife is one of Mikes knives. I have talked with Mike many times on the phone. He is a very nice guy. He proably would not mind touching up his knife at all. He takes a lot of pride in his work. The knife was described in the thread well, stating the knife had been used and carried. I'm sorry I can not give you a refund.

Tim, I specifically told you when you said that you had sent the knife that I was out of town on business and would not be able to receive it until last night. You also shipped the knife on August 3, which is not "well over a few weeks ago". Mike told me this morning that he did not make the blade in this shape. I can see sloppy sharpening marks on the blade which were never mentioned in the original for sale post. In addition there are numerous visable scratches on the blade, more than what I would consider "a few minor hairlines: as your listing stated. The photos on the post do not show the scratches that are clearly visable to the eye.

I understand that two people may have different ideas of what qualifies as what type of condition. That is why I would ask again that the sale be reversed. I will cover the shipping back to you with insurance and delivery confirmation. I don't hold hard feelings or think you intentionally misled me, I believe your idea of the condition of the knife differs from mine.
