Very recently purchased a Bark River: Bravo Micro from Knivesshipfree in their moving sale. Knife arrived and upon opening the package the knife is damages with ugly scratches on the handle pin. Email knivesshipfree who refer me to Bark River, who I contact and they will fix it but I have to pay for shipping to them and then back to me. So basically I have to mail off my brand new knife to be fixed at an extra cost of 30 dollars. Honestly frustrated with this, Knivesshipfree recently acquired me as a customer and I purchased several knives with good service but with this incident I will be purchasing from others from here on out.
**update** I don't have to pay return shipping as it came to me damaged

KSF has always been great for me. I have bought several knives from them and they are super top notch!

im not sure this thread is warranted.

Just because you got good service does not mean that this member's thread is not warranted... That being said, KSF has always given me excellent customer service and I would be shocked if they don't do the same for the OP. Has OP contacted anyone at KSF?

I've ordered from Derrick a few times on some BRKTs. I never had a issue and was always treated like I was their number 1 customer. They always make things right with no attitude or hassle and handle things as quickly as they can! Now that's service!

On other knives I purchased from them my service was great but on this one not great, in my opinion receiving a damaged knife warrants a complaint.

Yes, I contacted them, they referred me to BRKT warranty. BRKT has already told me to mail them the knife and they will fix it free. It will just cost me shipping to them and of course my time mailing them my brand new knife.

Agreed. Contact KSF and exchange the knife or get a refund.

I agree but I am really an easy guy to please, even something as simple as a $20 store credit for the hassle would have made me ok with the experience.

just my opinion Hoss :) The op could have just contacted KSF and this thread wouldn't have had to take place, thats what I meant.

Didn't the OP stated that he emailed KSF, and they referred him to Bark River? So he should contact them again?

Yes, just contact Derrick and he will make it right.

I did contact them, someone named Tyler has been answering my emails. He referred me to BRKT warranty. BRKT's customer service came through as they have emailed me that they will fix it for free. I just need to mail them the knife, I am just disappointed that I am having to mail off my brand new knife to be fixed and KSF did nothing.

There seems to be a missing step in this. KSF has a published return policy. Granted, if you don't take the full amount for store credit there is a restocking fee. But I've sent back a couple of knives...and taken store credit and just got another knife. I did have to pay for return shipping.

Mike

EDIT: I see this was a close out deal and has different return/no return policy.

Hey, here is the deal.

Those are knives on clearance and that is why we are not just saying, "Send it back to us." They are fully under warranty.

It was a misunderstanding on whoever you spoke to at Bark River--they don't charge for return shipping on warranty issues. Shoot me a PT and I'll get you a label to go to Bark River and I'll contact them myself and make sure there is no charge to you.

Derrick

Just got off the phone with Bark River and confirmed that there is no charge for return shipping on a warranty. Whoever you spoke to just didn't understand. We will pay for the shipping to them.

OP bought a knife listed under the "CLOSEOUT DEALS" section of Knives Ship Free. It clearly states at the top of that section the following:

Sorry, no returns -- the products in this section are deeply discounted and may not be returned to KnivesShipFree. All sales are final.

The fact that Knives Ship Free is offering to pay the shipping to Bark River is above and beyond the call of duty.

So, as is the case 95% of the time, there was nothing to see here, folks.

reading the not-so-fine print helps in many cases, and this is one of those cases. KSF is not in the wrong and is doing more than their fair share to make your oversight better for you.
