Dishonest description of condition or omission of damage

Are you saying that the issues had with the scale are nonexistent?

In regards to me not responding to the "I'll take it's", I check my other forums first and sell to those I would like to sell to. The buyer "Chuka" was invited to return the scale if he ever came across problems, he has my personal cell # to call if anything goes wrong.

Go look at my started threads on USN, BF, and JD. Look at the type of things I sell, if I were out to get somebody, it would not be over a measly scale. It was an accident and heck, I even forgot to relist it for sale for weeks until today because I had other things going on.

I don't remember it being stated that this would be sold on other forums as well as a proper description of the item. Just saying XM 18 scale leaves one to wonder. You don't have to be hyper detailed but at least enough to give a proper description. If it had been the right size i amongst others were ready to buy it then and there. While you were "checking other forums first" that it was listed, you were still logged onto BF for quite some time browsing around. After sometime, i just gave up, because you didn't seem to be coming back or at least responding to anyone.

What really confuses me is that the people that sell so many things find it so difficult to just post a proper description, and some don't even place photos. And when some people do post photos they conveniently leave out things, or it's a blurry shot.

I said i was in the wrong several times already, if you read? Would you go so far as to call it a POS based on those pictures? I mean clearly people lined up to buy it regardless of whatever condition you might call it in those pictures :)

As for the prospective buyer. I apologize i missed your post. I dont think i have to tell anybody where my stuff is listed.

No reason to get an attitude as I asked a simple question. Buyer says scale has flaws and you admit it was not in the stated condition but when you relist it you mention no issues with condition? Am I missing something?

I am putting it lightly so i dont offend jaytaylor or try to discredit his claim. The guy has been thru a lot which i am sincerely sympathetic about. I agreed to refund him without question.

Look at the scale. It has dirt on it. Thats it. Its probably not new so Jay is right. Its far from being a POS. The buyer knows what condition its in this time before paying. He actually paid me more than Jay did knowing that fact ironicly because i underpriced it the first time.

If anybody else wants to take a swing theyre more than welcome to. Ive been nothing but upfront and polite about this situation to the best of my ability. Im just here for fun. I understand youre just trying to mediate though and i apologize if my prior tone was condescending in any way.

I think anything being sold on this forum requires full disclosure, I've sold two of my knives on here and to be known as a high risk seller for only having two transactions under my belt is a Tad bit unfair. But if there is any damage, whether it be scuffs, stains, chips, dings, scratches or whatever, a close up photo of the particular damage needs to be taken as well in addition to the normal shots

This is clearly stated in the rules. The Exchange operates on integrity, as such, those with less than ethical practices may be removed form the site at will if their practices become known. There should be no question of what is required of the sellers/traders on this site:

The Exchange Forum Rules said:
Section 2

3.Be honest and provide an accurate & detailed description of the item. Don't forget to mention defects, blemishes, new, used, or other problems. When in doubt, be pessimistic with your descriptions.
4.Provide as many photos as possible, in the best lighting possible. It's always nice for buyers to see what they are going to get.

Man that sucks. I plan on upgrading my membership at one point to sell but might want to trade even sooner and im really nervous about this. While requesting pictures helps, they could be false pictures. Would anyone find it insulting to skype video their knives? Might be weird but if anyone requested that from me when i go to trade mine i would be totally fine with it.

If you paid via PayPal service, you can file a claim that items received was not as described and you WILL get your money back.

If you paid gift, you're SoL. That's why it's a good idea to suck up the 3% fee.

I do like to see detailed pics prior to any sale or trade. Thats why I always post pics in my trade threads. I will say mistakes do happen. I traded a Delica to a member. After the trade he contacted me letting me know the clip screws had been loctighted, and he was surprised about it. I had no idea they had been loctighted. The knife was set up for right hand tip up carry, which is my preferance. So I never messed with the scews. I apologised. And I would have done whatever he wanted to make it right. He said he was good with the trade and we left it at that. So I do understand if someone might miss something on a knife. I like the idea mentioned earlier about both parties being happy before a deal is final.

It only takes one bad trade to ruin one's reputation.

Apologies are great, if you sneeze in someone's face.......................

I won't even give a second look to anyone's ad who even remotely gives the impression that they may be trying to hide something. This includes no photos, bad photos, and a vague description of the item. I don't even waste my time emailing them for more information. The lack of detail can be an indicator of how they conduct business.

I don't need or want anything that badly.
+1. I will add that any item that goes for more than $30 or so simply deserves photo's from all relevant angles. The buyer sure needs them, and I agree with the above, should not commit without them. And of course, an item just sells better with good pics. So really, what reason can there be for not including pics in a sales post?

Yes. I agree. That's why I wanted to make sure he was happy with the trade. I also believe good descriptions are essential, and do my best to ensure they're accurate.

Would it be too much to read through a members posts and feedback to see if they are a contributing member of the community vs a fly by night scammer? Anyone can send videos of their knives, that does nothing to fix the issue. People need to be accountable for their actions, they need to treat their transactions as if they were doing things face to face, some integrity helps too.

I ve been lucky with all my sales and purchases! I guess now I only deal with people that have quite a bit of positive feedback. If I ever get an item thats is wrongly described I will make sure I am refunded or made right. My advice good communication is key. And do a little research before making the transaction! That CF scale looks alright to me in those pics! Cheers!

I agree with looking at a members information and feedback but what i meant was a live video chat showing the knife. Not a recorded video. Just to show the knife in its true current condition. Thats all

That would be interesting, but we really try to operate on integrity first and foremost. Those without it can keep on truckin' right on past here. We can't even get some people to post pictures of their stuff, just about every cell phone has a camera and it's not hard to post a clean picture.

just about every cell phone has a camera and it's not hard to post a clean picture.

This is so true, posting pics is fairly simple with a photobucket account, imgur, image shack, etc... Camera's these days are fairly inexpensive and easy to use.
I think any for sale post should have pics of the actual knife.

I sold it on the USN, I'm pretty sure the pictures I took of it were straight on which would reveal such "severe" blemishes.

You got your refund, you can either leave me a negative feedback, keep posting, or try to convince people that I am a bad trader when I have thousands of dollars worth of knives going in/out without a single complaint other than this one.

I already admitted to you that I failed to inspect the goods before mailing it back, I did not hesitate to pay you back, and hell, I even lost the beads so thats karma coming around to get me for not doublechecking stuff I was selling.

I'm sorry for the time and shipping money that this cost you, but it was an honest mistake. I try my absolute best to do good business on this and the other forums I participate on. If you have anything else to say, you can PM me or I would invite you to a phone conversation to try to smooth things over.

Hmm..just sayin Chris...
