dumb name I agree, but I also think you're over reaching/overreacting. it's only offensive if you let it be.

No it's not only offensive if you let it be offensive. Words have weight. There are things you can shrug off but you can't make a generalized statement like that.
And sometimes you need to say something. Ask the Patriot Riders and the Westboro Baptist Church about offensive Words and Behavior.
If you mean you should ignore/not make a huge deal over the name of a knife I would say I agree at least. There are certainly bigger issues but Greg should rethink his model names nonetheless.

Why does every Irishman say they are direct descendants of the seven kings of Ireland? I am positive I am though...
Whats that second name there friend mines o brien lol which literally translates to of brian so i am the king now lol

disagree. words have no weight for me unless I put weight in them myself. I have control over that and so do you and everyone else. this is my opinion you are entitled to your own of course.

I get where you are coming from and I don't completely disagree, I just think there are instances where words carry as much impact as actions. Which of course is ultimately linked to the actions and reactions of the person they are directed at.

I understand your position. we just dont agree completely and that's fine. I dont think there is any instance where i dont control how I feel about words tossed at me.

I'm the captain of my own ship I steer it where i want to. no one else does. I dont see other people as victims. I see them as captains as well.

back on topic.... this name of the knife isnt offensive unless someone is very very overly touchy and sensitive.

Most Medfords designs are distasteful, so I wouldnt be surprised, if they have unpleasent names as well.

I respectfully disagree with the first part. $1200 folding prybars? Yes, but not really distasteful in my opinion. I’d certainly be open to hear the other side of this

Although I’ll admit some bias as overall I’m a fan of the company. Not sure if their YouTube stuff helps or hurts them though. I personally like it, but I get the feeling that many of his opinions are controversial.

Okay last question. Would you say it's unfortunately named, maybe not offensive, but not ideal for public perception of the knife hobby/community? (Not a trick question or anything)
More in line of: Would you agree that there are better names for names?

Well with all the knife rights issue and bad publicitt one would think suicide swift was a dumb name .also if u used busse abreviated style it would nearly be as bad the "medford ss"sound like a skinheads knife lol.
It didnt offend me i just thought it was a silly name and it sucked

My mother's maiden name started with a "O'T" and about 10 letters after that looked unpronounceable. She came from County Mayo (typical left coaster ;))

Woah, I'm so off topic I can't remember what the thread was about. Typical Irishman, I'll shut up now.

It’s tastefully distasteful.

Medford must work hard to make sure their knives are offensive as possible. That is part of what appeals to their market.

Atleast it isn’t called the “Murder Swift.”

This way if anyone gives a hard time about the name you can say “I only intended to hurt myself.” I bought it to give myself edgy wrist scars.

Or "Toddler Skinner" ?

good question. hadn't thought about it that way....I think its a dumb name that I dont care for.......but I also think those who see all cutlery as weapons of death will see it that way even if the name of it was the "cheese and pickle dismantler."

Yep.

And in the "Knife names that bug people" category, this one isn't even in the running.
There are so many silly knife names out there.

Alternately, we could petition that all companies simply name their knives by the design number: Emerson 1...Emerson 2, etc.
But no sneaky naming it Emerson 5006 unless you have 5005 other designs in production! Integrity!!! ;)

Knife-related things have a bad streak of pretty unfortunate themes. All manners of death and some imagery that is related to (or has been co-opted by) white supremacy.

Suicide is a new one, though. I’m surprised we haven’t seen a kwaiken named the “seppuku” or something, now that I think about it.

I can see the sales patter for it now:
“Like new in box, only used once.”
