Did you read my posts?? I normally flotz and which stops it from happening 👍🏻
but you said you've seen it on yours. which means its happened to you flitz or not. I figured you'd have a pic of it somewhere on your phone. ya don't, okay.....

so do me a favor next time a magnacut spyderco or other brand patina or stains please take a pic and share with us before ya flitz it...

you like sharing pics of knives so help a brother out to see what you're seeing. thanks.

My experience with magnacut from many offerings is it will stain. Evidently your mileage may differ as others . Knives are tools not jewelry regardless how you slice it ;) proper care with a wipe down and oil you won’t have that issue 9 out of 10 times .If you want jewelry maybe you should go to Kay’s jewelry or a like 😆

Your experience with MagnaCut greatly differs from the experience I have with the couple dozen MagnaCut knives I have on hand, and the few I’ve made. 🤷

OP I would hands down be asking for a refund on that knife.

I was actually going to tag Jordan when I first saw the thread, as I knew he’d have the issue handled in no time. Now that I see he’s no longer with DLT things are a bit more clear.

Sad day.

Evidently and I’m not hear to defend Bark River just telling my experience with magnacut. Many manufacturers offer it with DLC or similar I’m sure for good reason.🤔

If I had known that there was a market for BRKT knives that you can’t stain on a bet, I’d have sold my Woodland Special years ago.

It’s the most neglected knife I own and I can’t get it to rust. Mustard, hot BBQ sauce, vinegar, fruit, vegetables - nothing.

Flitz would definitely do the trick on many blade steels. I highly recommend it 👍🏻 Eazy peasy with no drama .

But it shouldn't. If the steel was processed properly, and it's magnacut, it shouldn't have stained so easily, if at all. If it stays away, the DLT's claims are legitimate and BRK looks like a lazy maker show either skipped a process or are trying to save money by not switching belts, again, assuming that's what really happens.

If it cleans the stains and they come back, then there's something else going on. Maybe it's poor heat treatment, maybe it's the wrong steel. Either way, BRK is messing something up on a bigger degree than just using dirty belts.

A much less stain resistant stainless steel can manage to stay stain free, magnacut should be able to as well. The data is there for BRK to follow on heat treat along with the test results on it's performance for corrosion resistance.

Objectively, it should not stain so quickly. From the OP's pictures, I've had a harder time getting something like M4 or 3V to stain than he did magnacut, an actual stainless steel. Heck, my whole kitchen knife set is carbon steel blades because I like patina, but if I have a stainless steel blade of any kind and it stains faster than my blue #2 kitchen knives, things are not as they should be.

👍🏻 Good luck to the OP and my deepest condolences.

Hey is this benchmades Magnacut patina or just so it won’t stain and patina ? Or omg is it a new form of a Patina 😆

TheFactor TheFactor can you tell us what stained your Magnacut so we can test ours?
I noticed it happened before just from the oils or should I say finger prints and also have noticed discoloration on the edge itself . I did not take notes of what caused it I just pulled out the flitz and problem solved 👍🏻
