DLT Bark River Magnacut Santoku

I don't have any BRK, but I've bought several things from DLT, and their response is disappointing 😕

Agreed, never had any interest in BRK; fortunately I have read enough here to keep me clear. BRK is definitely one of DLT’s flagship manufacturers, and I always found that a bit disconcerting. I have purchased a lot from DLT over the years, I haven’t found another dealer that ships any faster than they do, I am a bit put off by their response as well.

I hate to pile on, but I once received a BRK with a grind so off center it was approaching a chisel. DLT didn't consider it defective so I was required to pay return shipping. I learned my lesson.
Ouch, that hurts. I've used DLT before and always had good service. I will now rethink using them in the future based on the info in this thread.

So sorry this happened to the OP, I would be interested to see how this works out with the flitz and with continued use over a time period. If the issue isn’t resolved, send it back for a refund. Keep the flitz as a reminder and at least you can clean up some of your other knives. Keep us updated if you keep it and try it over time to see if the patina returns.

Just as a visual comparison- I've had this Meglio Gyuto in Magnacut for almost two years.
It's used daily in a commercial kitchen. I've cut raw & cooked beef, chicken, bison, deer, and pork. A cornucopia of produce has been prepared as well, including melons, tomatoes, citrus, leafy greens & herbs,

Not much in the way of patina here..

(Apologies, it's difficult to photograph polished steel with this lighting)

always has been with bark river.....and they don't even use quality control input from the consumer or fix anything wrong.....just keep doing crap like they always have done......
The odds are with them.
Between the fan bois, the uninformed, the “oh well “accepting and the lazy, how many returns could they be getting?

I had a Bark River in Magnacut that I was initially impressed by. It was the JX6. I had used it for awhile, batoned with it, held up fine. I noticed the grind was extremely uneven and after about 2 months it developed surface patina along the grind lines. It bothered me so much that I sold it for quite a heavy loss. It looked about the same as what you see on the santoku. I really don’t like this fact, because on paper bark river looks great and I like their handles and materials. Really a huge let down and I’ll never buy from them again.

I looked for reasoning and they said it was from metal from previous knives being embedded into the magnacut blade from the belts they use. Seems unacceptable as an excuse considering other companies don’t have an issue with this.

I tried to use a similar excuse with a woman who claimed I might have been responsible for her being with child...

All right, that's enough comedy for one day...

Back to the salt mines.

not many as anyone has read the horror stories here of what happens if ya return a faulty product for warranty work......

I'm of the opinion most not all, of the fan boys never use their knives so have no idear if they are good or not other than looks......

now here comes the post of a guy saying he's batoned log cabins down into kindling with his bark river and how great it did.......
