Well, since the guy did not respond or reply in any way he is banned.

Thank you sir, I know a lot of us are active in other forums as well so if this name and address come up you will want to steer clear.

I've made the same mistake eschwebach; (trading with a guy with no feedback & low post count) except it cost me an emerson commander & cqc 7...:foot::(

Better luck next time I guess.

Always happens to the good guys. Giving the benefit of the doubt. Makes you cold to people.

Just had to be a bit cold to someone because of no feedback. Threw a couple of flags, so I stuck to my guns.

Such a shame we have to be like this.

Rev, wasn't there a member a while back with a similar name? I can't recall who it was, but I remember he made a large fuss in a thread.

Sorry this happened to you Erik.

Would you consider editing in his name and address into the OP? Might just make the difference between a close call and some one else getting screwed.

There have been a handful of these incidents over the last calendar year. No feedback, no one on their friends list, no contributions to the forum aside from trying to buy, sell, or trade. Those are the red flags you need to look for. When dealing with a newcomer ask yourself:
Are they a member of any other discussion forums?
Have they contributed to any discussions?
Is their demeanor aggressive, passive, neutral?
Where are the bulk of their poste if any at all?
Just some food for thought.

Czechmate, sorry to hear that brother!

Sorry this happened to you Erik.

His info has been added to the OP. Thanks again for the support and to the mods. I just hope my mistakes help someone else not repeat them.

Man I have traded with people with zero feedback and sent knife first and it worked out for me both time . It just seems rude to do but I'll be asking people with little feedback to send first and point to this thread for reason.

That guy lives about 30 minutes away from me. I could try and take a ride past his place, see if there's a wrecked car out front or anything to that effect. Sorry this happened Erik. Also I did a quick Facebook search and this is the only guy with that name who lives in Sanford, FL:

https://www.facebook.com/bryce.hilton.16

He lists Seminole State College as his education place? That's a crappy little community college they turned into a "state university" a few years back, so this could be him. Additionally, it wouldn't surprise me to find that this guy is actually a young punk, not some 50+ year old who's married like he claims.

I doubt that's him. A scammer with the smallest amount of common sense would never use his real name.

Well, he scammed a member out of a $40 knife. Not exactly a common sense move, now is it? There have been a LOT of case studies done on how stupid criminals are. Not to mention, giving Erik his address, it probably never even occurred to give a false name. He was giving his address, so using his real name was almost certainly reflexive. We probably aren't dealing with a rocket surgeon here. LOL

I agree on that Facebook page being his. After you posted his info, it was easy to pull that up, but since that time, it's gotten more private.

Doesn't seem rude to me at all. Anyone with any integrity will realize that it's simply good business.

Interesting Facebook page, isn't it Forrest? The whole page seems like a practical joke to me. The URL lists his last name as "Hilton" but the page spells it as "Hillon". His favorite bands are AC/DC and Metallica, yet his favorite books are The Hunger Games and movie is Lion King??? Based on his friends he would seem to be on the younger side. Well, what goes around comes around... Karma has a way of slapping you upside the head, and I am sure it will happen to this joker at some point. I am not going to worry about it anymore.

Well, I'm sorry it happened to you either way brother. I am fairly certain that you and I will be doing business again at some point before long, so I'll continue to be the Florida guy you can always trust!

By the way, for those few who had negative comments to say about Erik, I'll give you the polite version of my candid response: stick it in your ear. Erik's a fantastic guy to deal with, and he's a credit to this Board. From his actions, it's clear he meant to simply extend some trust to a new member. He got bit. Unfortunately, it's true what they say. Asswads always ruin things for the rest of us.
