Do You Carry "Regardless?"

I'll tell you a story...

Back when I was married, drinking, and using... I lived minutes walk from my favorite liquor store (and 6 minutes from the grocery store). It was maybe 7AM and I NEEDED alcohol. My liquor store wasn't open yet but the grocery store was... so as I'm crossing the street (at a crosswalk), the only 2 vehicles that were on the road were a Fresno PD and Fresno Sheriff side by side. I'm heavily tattooed, was wearing a Hells Angels support shirt, and had a ZT 9 bayonet on a drop leg sheath.

I walked right in front of both while they were stopped at a red light. Not a single F was given.

ZT 9 in a drop Leg, heading to the grocery store...... That's awesome :)

I always have a blade on me. If it's not a Recon in the front right, it's a matriarch in the waistband, if it's not that it's a mini grip back left pocket, maybe a folts minimalist and victorinox classic around my neck, or a leek clipped to the top of my sock. Point is, depending on the situation I'll be carrying different things, but one way or another I have a blade. Now that's not to mention the lights clipped in different spots and bulging pockets. I rattle when I walk but I feel good doing it

I always carry some sort of knife, except for places it is completely illegal. If I am going to my kids school or an event where they have metal detectors, then it stays in the car. After 30 years of carrying a knife, I feel naked without one.

I always carry. Movie theaters in my town have strict no weapons policies and they specifically mention knives. I still carry. I carry at work when I work in schools or federal buildings. It's a tool not a weapon, so yes I carry everywhere.

+1.. I carry everywhere that doesn't have a metal detector..... I pick the size according to how I feel.

A seemingly invariable rule is that I don't carry when I need one. The wife and I have chuckled over that a few times. But the glove box Mora has saved the day out at the lake more than once.

Nothing is truly "illegal" as long as it doesn't look threatening. I EDC a Kabar Dog's Head trapper and have had officers just shrug it off.

I usually carry a SAK, and ZT (lately). If I am concerned about general knife laws (outside my state), I leave the ZT in my vehicle. That doesn't mean I take it or any knife inside places like court houses or places that I know do not allow knives.

I carry whatever I want, its not like a cop is gonna randomly search somebody for knives and know exactly whats legal or not then put them in jail. My local laws are pretty lenient anyways, it only specifically states you cant carry dirks, daggers, bowies, autos, or anything concealed. Any other matter is vague enough or nonexistent that people could legally carry almost anything they want. What I hate the most is the stupid "blade length can be no greater than the width of your palm" measurement, im not sure where anybody came up with that but I have heard it from so many people it makes my head spin, is it just me or do any of you guys ever hear this bs?

Except where/when I absolutely can't (airport, court etc.)...oh except on election day this past year where I carried into my polling place that is definitely not a place you're allowed to carry usually, I took my gun out of it's holster and left it in my car and the knife totally slipped my mind...oh well, no one died.

Yes, I hear it all the time. Mostly from non-knife people. I have spoken with a few LEO in my area about it and have come to the conclusion that most of them do not have a solid grasp on local or state knife laws.

BTW, I used to carry everywhere. Now, it is only about 75-80% of the time. The area that I live in seems to breed sheeple. Maybe it is something in the water.

I was just wondering about this thread topic myself, heading on a road trip to a state with a 3.5" length limit on "concealed" blades and was not really sure what to think about it...
Useful opinions here, thanks.

If you break a knife carry law, its only a misdemeaner. Punishable by fine, usually less than a traffic ticket. Also punishable by one year in jail, just like littering. Second offence in my state, the fine goes up about a hundred dollars.

My general rule is, if I KNOW it's illegal, I don't carry. But since I live in Texas(and not in San Antonio), carrying isn't a problem generallyy. Now, if I'm going some specific place where I'm not certain of the rules for carrying(like when I went to a college campus for a friend's graduation last year), instead of wearing something openly clipped to my pocket, I'll keep something small like an SAK or Spydie Ladybug inside my pocket.

Really? Everywhere?
