Do You EDC Higher End Knives Like Sebenza?

I couldn't justify owning anything that doesn't get used, so my Sebenza gets carried every day.

If What you like is expensive, carry it. See how that works.

I will and do. But that doesn't mean the discussion can't be had.

my edc rotation currently consists of:

Chaves 228 midtech
Hoback Kwaiback Midtech
Kubasek Custom Tanto
ZT 0452
Robert Carter F16
G&G Hawk MUDD Prototype (On me now)

so.....i think the answer to the OP's question is...yes. I have trimmed my collection over the past few months and am continuing to clear out all my safe queens. Moving to a carry only approach. They are tools, therefore extended periods of time spend in a safe, or in a drawer is essentially abuse:-)

Would you trailer a bike to Sturgis?

(Every time a bike gets trailered, a 1%er somewhere is crying)

Ok, I know this isn't aa or church, but I must confess....I don't have a Sebenza........yet. But I do carry my favorites, no matter what the price happened to be. If I can afford to buy it, then it must be used. At least until I decide if I really like it. I may have accumulated a few too many to carry them all, but I always carry my current favorites. Which is why my favorite handgun (Performance Center 1911) is developing some nice holster and wear marks.

But I sort of have a problem buying knives and they seldom get more than a little clip wear before I've landed on something new that I want to try out. I'm trying to quit, but this site does not help much.

So here are the currents... This gun has ridden leather daily for well over a year now. But the knives are probably just going on a month now. Unfortunately I have another order in, but doubt anything in it will kick the Domino out of my pocket just yet. In the 200+ that have been resigned to the shelf, this Domino is one of my top five babies. Maybe when I finally bring in a Sebbie, it'll kick them all ;)

Yes, use them all except hard to find or limited edition stuff. Sometimes I would buy two if I really like the knife. In the Sebenza's case, it's meant to be and looks way better with use.

I can't remember the last time I posted here - probably my freshman year of college (about 4 years ago).

Now that I've graduated, I'm itching to get a Sebbie. I'm thinking Large Insingo. And I will carry it.

That'll be the first blade I've bought since an Izula 2 almost 3 years ago. :o

I started brutalizing a $25 kershaw and a SaK. After a while I moved up to a USA made kershaw. Then I had spydercos but wouldn't carry the sprint runs.

Today my work carry is a strider smf (in my bdu) and when I put real people clothes on I carry a cf Sebenza 21. I'm in the "if I don't carry it it gets sold" crowd. I buy stuff for no reason, try it out and if it doesn't make the cut, it's gone.

The good thing about carrying your favorite high end knives around and using them without mercy is that you will have no choice but to replace them or upgrade if you lose or damage them. So you can go from the seb 21 to the 25..since its for work and all

I have no high end knives. Some day I'd like to own a left handed CRK small seb 21, but five kids keep that just a dream for now. Lol.

However, I make knives, so I guess I'll have to make my own "high end knife." I will say, I'd hate for one of my knives to sit in a safe or drawer. I make them to be used and I'll bet a bunch of other makers feel the same.

I carried an Umnumzaan for a few weeks, and tried carrying a Sebenza 25. I love the knives, but I wanted a thicker and more robust knife for heavier use.

The last three yrs or so, I have carried large Sebenzas, Umnumzaans, and a Southard AVO.
Wouldn't have it any other way. These are the folders that please me and suit my EDC needs.

I feel the exact same way. Besides....since I started carrying one that I made...I found that it works soo much better than the factory stuff I used to carry :-)

I carry all my knives... just not simultaneously. They're divided into two groups, and I usually carry two knives. One is used for EDC purposes, the other performs the same role as a Spyderco Civilian or Yojimbo -- I keep them clean, I keep them scary-sharp, and I flip or flick them open repeatedly; but the first thing they will cut with serious purpose will be human flesh (hopefully not mine, and hopefully not anyone's actually), or a seat belt, or nothing. They're my 'go-to' fighting knife and/or survival knife, usually flippers, usually titanium framelocks, and sometimes a Sebenza 25.

This system satisfies my desire to carry my knives, my belief in carrying a knife for self-defense that is always ready for battle, and keeps my favorites from getting slightly worn in the way my EDC knives do. I carry my Sebenza 25, Hinderer XM-18 3.5 Slicer, ZT 0392, etc. as my self-defence blades, or 'Tactical Carry', whatever. My Spyderco Paramilitary 2, Farid Mehr K2, and ZT 0561 are all great EDC knives for someone who doesn't worry about an extra ounce or two. All of the folders I own make effective fighting knives, but I try to keep the most expensive ones in the best condition I can.

In the summer, I scale back to carrying one, from either group. At work or home, a boxcutter does most of the jobs, and EDC tasks rarely come up. Neither do violent 'tasks'. It's an insurance policy, and hopefully I'll never have to file that claim.

That was a long, tedious way of saying 'yes, I carry my Sebenza, but no, I haven't had cause to use it'.
