Do You EDC Higher End Knives Like Sebenza?

OP, I struggled with this question myself a while back. But then I came to the same conclusion as all the others that have posted here. A knife is a tool. Carry it, use it, enjoy its beauty all at the same time. The 'high-end' knives are a joy to use!

I have some knives that I never plan to sell under any circumstance. They have sentimental value beyond almost any financial value. I told my wife.. What would I think in 40 years that I have a mint condition hunter, skinner, slipjoint, etc. in the back of my safe. I went hunting all those years and used a junk knife to clean fish and gut deer. I could have used some of the best knives in the world but I left them in a safe. Heck no! I use my knives.
I EDC my Sebenza for 3 months now. One of the best knives I own. What am I going to do? Sit around and look at it? Enjoy those knives.

I Co Stanley use and sharpen my Damascus Sebenza.

I didn't realize this was a typo at first:D "I constantly use..."

I thought there was a hidden meaning behind that, refering to using you sebenza like a Stanley screwdriver:rolleyes:

I feel so stupid...

I buy all my knives with the intention to carry them, and will if I keep them. Some knives though are dedicated to less hard work situations, such as my dress knife, but all get carried and used.

I was just thinking this morning about why I didn't grab my newish large Seb to EDC today. I regretted it, because, I realized, if I got into any kind of kinfe-needing situation today, from needing to slice an apple to being trapped in a collapsed building being overrun by zombies, my Sebenza is the folder I would want to have in my pocket...

You never want to be without your Sebenza when the zombie hordes attack :)

Absolutely. Just show your Sebenza to the zombies, and they will get all wrapped up in a heated debate over fit/finish/features vs price of the Sebenza, thus giving you time to escape. :D

And some people say they aren't worth the money.

Don't forget pulling out micrometers to measure lockup.:D

I bought my fist small Sebenza almost 11 years ago. It arrived the day my first child was born. I carried the knife everyday for more than 5 years. I renovated 3 homes with no other knife on me but this one. My one abuse to it was using it to cut drywall late one night because my last razor broke. Once I did that I just kept using it hard without a thought. Outside of the tip being rounded, it never chipped and the lock never budged. Lock up on it is still the same as a brand new one. After all of this I swore I would carry and use whatever knife was in pocket, no safe queens. The only reason I stopped carrying it is a desire for larger knives. This is why a larger Sebenza is on my very short list!

Top knife is brand new and bottom is mine. Yep I even andodized it on one side!

I purchased a second ZT620 so I could abuse one and keep the other clean but I must admit the one I use everyday still looks great so it was probably a waste of money to buy the second. I do use my Striders and other nice knives but I avoid scratching the black coated blades in my collection.

Before collecting, every knife was bought because I needed to use them...
Upon collecting, yes, there are some that just look too nice to be used.
By then I was introduced to the world of good steel and generally some good knives in terms of design, ergo or whatever and... then I just started using them more and more.
