Do You EDC Higher End Knives Like Sebenza?

Absolutely. Just show your Sebenza to the zombies, and they will get all wrapped up in a heated debate over fit/finish/features vs price of the Sebenza, thus giving you time to escape. :D

And some people say they aren't worth the money.

Don't forget pulling out micrometers to measure lockup.:D

^------ Now THAT is funny!!!! Thanks for the first LOL of the morning guys!!!!!!! :D ----

If I could afford a top end knife, I would use it. I have little use and zero need of a safe queen, just as with firearms, I have no use for a wall hanger. If you can't use it, what's the point?

^^^agreed. I use all my stuff. I do not consider a Sebenza anything close to higher-end, except by price.

i carry a Ferrum forge phantom. i have carried several different sebenzas at different times, as well as a Tom Maringer. They aren't so special that they couldn't be replaced. Might as well enjoy them. Besides, how much fun is it to pull out a really nice knife to use, and get that slightly envious look from the next guy?
Oh, forgot about the silver and gold handled William henry with damascus blade - really got some looks when I pulled that one out to open a box!

I have have 9 CRKs that I carry in rotation...mostly Regulars. My job is somewhat urbane so they don't see any abuse. Everyday at lunchtime I sit and carefully slice up my sandwich with a $400 - $1000 knife and get a big kick out of it. Sometimes box tape gets the crap sliced out of it! I offer to open everybody's packaging....just wouldn't be any fun with a $12 knife. :)

But if I buy one and feel that something is "off" about it, it doesn't get used so that the resale value will hold. If I love 'em, I use 'em, cuz I won't sell 'em.

Starting today after work, I will carry my Sebenza regularly. I haven't done so before since I haven't owned one.

That being said, it is a knife. If I wouldnt use it, I wouldn't buy it.
Would you buy a hammer and not use it due to it having a nice finish on the poll or face?

I don't consider the Sebenza higher end because of the price. Higher end is at least $1000, to me.

This one went to the Grand Canyon with me, and everywhere else in the past few months. I haven't been able to get it out of my pocket because it works so well for my uses. Wherever else I wanf to carry on any given day has to be in addition to this one.

Fair enough. But I think it's important to remember that "high end" is relative, and a BM mini grip would be considered high end to someone whose only owned 10 dollar Mtechs.

But 'expensive' can't be as easily distinguished from 'super expensive' as a cheap knife from the gas station can be distinguished from a Benchmade. Diminishing returns and all that. I highly doubt a 1000 dollar custom would offer the end user a whole lot more performance, durability, fit and finish, etc than a sebenza of half the price. But then again, that's not the only reason someone buys high end stuff. I AM sure that the "higher end" custom would look a lot better and make someone feel a lot warmer and fuzzier. But then again, the same can be said about buying a sebenza over, say, a spyderco military.

Way to much thinking. Carry what you like. Words to live by.

I've EDC'd Strider SNG and many others, and the small sebenza is my current folder edc - for years and years - if you want a safe queen, buy 2!
