Do you guys use your most expensive knives?

This one has proven to be an exceptional user over the last few months or so.

Why spend lots of money on somthing and never use it, and to top it spend even more money buying somthing you will use?

I carry a range of knives but the two that are on me the most at my A² Knives Model A7 Tanto($725) and my Bradford Knives Guardian 3 in SG2 ($279) and they are amazing. I have never loved a fixed blade as much as this SG2 Guardian 3 and the A7 is great for my daily tasks.

I guess it really depends. My most expensive knife (not swords, because i own swords too and do not count them as knives) i own is $100. Its the sk-710 pocket knife from sarge knives. I got it as a gift from my friend and because of that it has sentimental value to me. Its a gorgeous knife and id like to carry it but it means too much to me. Now on the other hand, i have non expensive knives that have custom things done to them, like my harley quinn one that has custom painted plastic scales. I never use that one because its custom. I never use my playboy engraved one even though i have another of the exact same knife with no engraving and use that one all the time. It really depends on how you feel about that specific knife. But thats just my opinion.

"Expensive" is a relative term, for some $20 is expensive, for others $1000 is disposable income..
My most expensive folder is a classic Sebenza, I carry and use it regularly.
For me I like to carry and use my knives, thats how I enjoy them!
When I see Damasteel, Timascus, mokume, mammoth ivory, intricate engraving and machining, precision tolerances...
I can see and appreciate the value in materials, the skill and hours put in by the maker, in design and execution.
I know because I have made a few knives myself...
If you plan on using a knife hard or regularly, there is no such thing as perfect or indestructable, it MUST be , within your budget replacable!
Properly used and cared for most well made knives will last a lifetime or three.
But every cut you make, wears away steel...eventually...

Used to think like you bud. Still love my Spydercos too. Welcome aboard, hold tight to that wallet it only gets worse! (Jfc did I just comment as if 5 years later your still engaged 🤦🏼‍♂️)

Occasionally I'll buy a knife and think I'm not going to use this. Sometimes it's because it is fancy - aka too nice - sometimes it is because I realize it isn't quite what I wanted. Usually, though it's because I'm satisfied with the knife in my pocket. I've been carrying a Berg Iron Pup (non flipper) for about a year and a half. I just got bit by the bug, started looking, and bought a CRK small 31, polished, with box elder inserts. I almost put it away; but I caught myself and forced it into my pocket. It'll take a few weeks, maybe longer, but my plan is to make it my regular carry (I've tried this unsuccessfully with CRKs before; but I think this one might make it)

Yes, I know the thread is from 2017, but enough people have responded that it's now an ongoing discussion
