Do you keep a knife in your end table?

Kids are horrible for home defense.
Some people live in great areas maybe
I'm surrounded by violent cities here in CA so it would make more sense for me, not to mention my neighbor tried to break into my house once when he was high off cocaine 🙄

No knife, but there's a Glock17 in my night stand drawer. Although I can't imagine anyone stealthy enough to get past our two 90 lb labs, and make it upstairs without them causing a ruckus. Of course, they're labs & everybody's their new best friend, so if a burglar would break in, they'd probably help carry stuff out.:)

No knives on the bed stand . Next days rotation on the dresser.

I keep a Cobratec OTF in my nightstand, along with a flashlight, a pen, and a notebook. Not for self defense, but just in case I need a knife to open a NyQuil pack or something.

A knife is a poor choice for self defense; for that, I have an SBS in the bottom drawer of my dresser.

Now that you ask, I store a lot of knives in the drawers beside the bed, but they are in boxes, so I guess that doesn't count. I think there are three tomahawks and two machetes under the bed but count that as storage too. I will take credit for the aluminum baseball bat directly beneath me on the floor.

In my younger, more impoverished days, I lived in some bad neighborhoods, bad apartment buildings, and in some apartments/houses that were not as secure as I would have preferred. During that time I developed the habit of keeping a variety of weapons (including fixed-blades) hidden in every room, easily accessible to me, but out of site and hidden in obscure places.

Although I've lived in secure places for several years now, and I feel quite safe in my home, the habit of locating weapons throughout my home continues. I have a fixed-blade in every room of my home, including the bathroom. I also keep one on my nightstand at night. But this is more a matter of habit than home defense.

My garage is a different story. I spend a lot of time in my garage with the door open for better light. Although my apartment is secure, my apartment building is on a main street with some sketchy human traffic. And then there are all the dogs in my complex, some less obedient than others (and an unusual number of pit bulls). Among other things I keep a Cold Steel Peace Keeper 1 nearby with the sheath bolted to the side of my work bench for unexpected, and unfriendly visitors.
