Do you only carry a knife to use?

i usually carry 3 knives. i carry a large knife (bm adamas, zt 0300, hogue ex-01, zaan, or other larger folder) in the front right pocket. i carry the smallest glow in the dark SAK in my coin pocket in my front left, and i keep a small 1-1.5 inch folder pock clipped with on my right rear side waist band or in my front pocket as well.

i carry knives for many reasons
-to use as a tool
-emergency tool/ get out of trouble
-sometimes food prep
-because i love knives, i love the art, the steel, the designs, i love everything
-i enjoy showing my close friends my new toys as i have taught them to appreciate knives as well
and i carry 3 for situations

i will use the big knife 90% of the time, i use the SAK to clean my nails/toothpick or tweezers, if the company I'm in at the needed moment is not accepting towards knives i will use the SAK or the small folder to not cause a scene or cause uneasiness. I will loan or lend my small cheap folder to people if a knife is needed but the larger knife is only for me. and i find at least no adays so many people are poorly uneducated about knives and weapons. so if i can avoid an uncomfortable encounter or a confrontation or debate about weapons i will use the small knife.

Been carrying three blades (technically four) on me as of lately. Bottom of the front right or in the back right pocket sits my Victorinox Cadet. I feel really naked leaving home with it that little guy. Clipped on my front right is usually a folder with a pocket clip of some sort (e.g. Caly 3.5, Delica4, Skyline). And riding on a belt sheath is my trusty Case Trapper. I carry the SAK for the tools, the clipped-folder just cause I love knives and in case I need a locking blade (can't think of a realistic reason why off the top of my head, but why not lol), and the full-size trapper for spreading butter/nutella/cream cheese.

It's not completely unheard of for myself, though as of late my knife knuttiness has subsided and I'm now down to whatever slipjoint is it for the month and a LM Micra keyringed to my Fenix E01 in the opposite pocket.

Of course this is down from a fixed blade on belt, a large folder in front left hand and a smaller one in front right hand, with a LM Wave on belt as well. Talk about duty belt.

I carry a different number of knives at different times.

At work I have a Brown FFG Delica clipped to RFP, a Vic Cadet in the bottom of my FRP or the bottom of my BLP, a SOG Flash I clipped to BLP, Case Chestnut CV Peanut in the bottom of my FLP and a Vic Stayglow Rambler on my key chain also in my FLP.

When I'm in or out of the house I have my Paramilitary 2 clipped to RFP and my Peanut in the bottom of my RFP. Sometimes a SE Manbug or a LM Squirt PS4 in FLP. I've got a couple new Alox Cadets in the mail that will work their way into my EDC rotation.

I don't think that carrying just two knives qualifies you as a "Knife Knut". Around here at Bladeforums, carrying only two knives just barely qualifies you as "interested in knives". ;)

Personally, I'm not a "pocket jewelry" kind of guy. But I don't see anything wrong with it either. The knives I carry are for using, whether I expect to use them or not. And in the case of the knife I carry for self-defense, I carry it with the hope that I won't have to use it.

I carry a knife to be used, and I do use it. I may not use it a lot but on rare occasions when I don't have a knife with me, I seem to find that I really need it. Of course I carry a knife that I like to carry and use. I am a fan of plain edge blades but I recognize that serrations have their place, and I also recognize that it is helpful to have a second knife on you that you can use for things that you don't want to use your good knife for so I'm going to experiment with carrying a fully serrated Spyderco as my secondary knife.

I must be in the minority here when it comes to pocket carry, usually it's only one. I have so much crap already that I'm carrying on a daily basis in my pockets, money clip, car keys with remote, cell phone, AA flshlight, breath mints (never know), kleenex, smokes and a Zippo. With all that that's in my pockets I have room for one knife in my rotation and that's why I always make sure that blade is sharp... Got friggin' 10 pounds of gear here and I normally don't like bringing the whole kitchen sink with me, even so with my meager daily carry goodies the woman always laughs at me when we get home and I empty my pockets and I have more crap than she carries in her purse!

I don't think a Vic cadet takes up a whole lot of room in a pocket. Or put a classic on your keychain so you have an extra blade.

I carry three folders almost always and use them constantly. I build and repair things for a living. I don't pry with knives if I can help it and have never snapped a tip. The screwdriver tools on my Tinker work well for the occasional pry. One handed locking folder (most often Para 2) gets most use for cutting tasks because it is easy, fast, and conveniently clipped to RF pocket. Third knife is a Classic on the keychain, but I seldom use the blade, mostly the scissors and toothpick. Today I'm carrying a Super Tinker in RR pocket, love its scissors. I use all the tools except for the hook.

I'm really thinking about something like that actually, but maybe something more in line with a last ditch type of blade. Thanks that could work...

I only carry a knife to be used, because that's the only purpose for which you can legally carry a knife in my country.

I have my needs lined up pretty well:
Right front pocket - Heavy duty folder
Left front pocket - Light duty folder
Change pocket - SAK

I use all of them and use all of them often. I don't carry them just to carry, I do carry them to use them. I just love the feeling of carrying them and using them. I'm also not exactly a collector though, I'm a knife user and like it that way.

Though.. when I first get a knife it HAS to be carried at least once. This is just for the simple joy of carrying that knife because it's new and pretty and I am excited about it. So it goes in the pocket and is not put there with use or EDC in mind. Though it may very well be used and become a new EDC(usually does). But that first one or two times carrying isn't meant for EDC it's just meant for enjoying my new knife.

So, no I suppose I don't always carry for usage, but 99.99% of the time I do. It's just that new knife excitement that ruins my carry and use track record! Lol.

I would only carry a knife at weekends - when going into the woods/fishing. Why the hell would I carry a knife to work?? I work in a office, and I get emails not letters. If I rolled in with a knife it would:

A) Make me look like Jeffery Dahmer
B) Ruin the cut of my nice suit

As much as I'd like to play with knives at work, I've already had several complaints about my behaviour. Women just have no sense of humour when it comes to a playfull slap on the arse when requesting she puts the kettle on.

^^^ Because knives are useful tools no matter where you are. Even in office settings. Trust me, when you're carrying that knife, different uses come up all the time.
Women complain because they just don't like to be touched in "that way" and find it nowhere near funny but more rude and disrespectful. They just don't really like that kind of thing. It's not you really, it's just the way people take things, but we have to respect that even if it is weird to us lol.

It never hurts to carry a knife, especially if it's something you enjoy. You only live once. =]

It's not a lack of respect. It's sometimes they get big ideas in their head and we all no how dangerous that can be. I even had a complaint from the work experience girl after I told her that statistically speaking, 9 out of 10 people enjoy gang-rape. Threatening suppliers with a knife would be the final straw I think.

I mostly carry them becouse i like them and im a knife nut im not gonna lie .as for using it at my job well im a car mechanic so other than for prying fuses out and stuff like thats it is usless but i just love to have them. .though my charge tti gets used alot even when i have regular pliers next to me i still bust it out and use em just cuz i like it. and yes carry them YOLO!
