Do you only carry a knife to use?

No, for use only. Thats not to say I don't like the knives, but it/they are for use.

ZT rarely gets used
Recon 1 does a lot of cutting..
thats what i pack most of the time.. :)

Of course I only carry a knife to use, mighty expensive pocket weight otherwise.

I would only carry a knife at weekends - when going into the woods/fishing. Why the hell would I carry a knife to work?? I work in a office, and I get emails not letters. If I rolled in with a knife it would:

A) Make me look like Jeffery Dahmer
B) Ruin the cut of my nice suit

As much as I'd like to play with knives at work, I've already had several complaints about my behaviour. Women just have no sense of humour when it comes to a playfull slap on the arse when requesting she puts the kettle on.

It's not a lack of respect. It's sometimes they get big ideas in their head and we all no how dangerous that can be. I even had a complaint from the work experience girl after I told her that statistically speaking, 9 out of 10 people enjoy gang-rape. Threatening suppliers with a knife would be the final straw I think.

This is the General knife forum. We don't need to know nor do we care how you act at work. Keep your comments on topic or don't post. Clear?

Recently, I have been carrying two folders, an AGR Rancher for basic cutting and my Willumsen Tuco to show it off.

Nope all of my knives are users and if I don't use it I don't keep it on my person.

I misunderstood the question, I use what I have on me, none are for strictly showing off.

I won't carry a knife if I won't use it.
There's still certain things that I won't do with it, but I don't ever hesitate to use it.

+1 I will carry a fixed blade of some description when hunting/fishing/camping. I also have an emergencies bag in the car with a Hultafors Heavy Duty knife, a ferro rod and an axe, as well as emergency blanket, !st aid kit and provisions for making a fire.
I carry and rotate various sub 3" non locking folders, but have started favouring the Michael Morris Friction Folder clone I made (with permission), made out of 4mm Munin Damasteel and 6mm G10, scales. The bottle opener tang can also do justice as a window breaker because of the thickness (I kept the end quite sharp for this purpose). That stays in my my Bike Jacket. I use quite a bit for cutting jobs not at work. At work I have a spyderco bug for opening boxes, cutting string etc. (I'm mainly office based, but visit construction sites occasionally).
I have some "posh" knives for posh occasions (pocket jewellry to match the outfit) but all my knives (apart from one) are users as well and get used when I carry them.

I usually have 3 knives with me when I walk out the front door.

1. edc knife, usually a folder with a blade under 3.5"
2. SAK Classic, attached to the car keys
3. Spyderco Bug, attached to the cell phone

I been carrying a fixed blade inside waistband on my strong side lately. Rotate them out between my street beat, bravo necker 2 with green micarta or my izula. For a folder i carry my large sebenza 21 or my bradley alias 1. I use them both interchangeably. I wont pull out my fixed blade around folks that may get scared.

My EDC of late has been an Opinel No.8 and a Cold Steel Pocket Bushman. The PB sees the bulk of the hard work but when I need to make a thin cut or I'm slicing veggies in my lunch I go for the Opinel. It's my pocket scalpel.

I only carry two knives: a mid sized folder and a multi-tool/SAK. Truth be told, sometimes I question even carying a folder becuase 80% of the time I find myself reaching in my pants for my SAK, hehe.

I carry my CRK Insingo and use it for 95% of everything I do. I say only 95% because this weekend I had a ton of cardboard to break down for recycle since it was time to clean out the garage. After I just put a new polished edge on my Insingo I didn't want to abuse it with cardboard since that stuff is killer on an edge. So, out comes the ESEE Candiru. Glided through the boxes, not just tape, and still had a decent edge afterwards. The great part is the 1095 steel takes only a handful of swipes on my Sharpmaker to pull it back to shaving sharp.

I carry two knives. One with a clip in the right pocket usually a large blade. My Buck 501 in the change pocket. On my belt I have my carry gun,1 or 2 extra mags depending on gun and a flash light. Both knives are users depending on the situation.

At work I only carry the JYD 2.2, and I use the crap out of it. I am an atm tech and constantly open bags and cut plastic seals. Off work I usually carry 2 knives. One to use and the other to show off to my friends that know I'm a knut. I just got a BM 707 that will get a lot of pocket time and use. That leaves the Socom Elite, Deimos, etc for showing off.

Oh, an a side note aboutthe flashlights since someone else mentioned it. Got stranded 3 hours from home this weekend because my brother-in-law tried to cross Lake Tanganyika on Hwy 90. We did a lot of under car work after dark and had to buy an overpriced pos light at the Auto Zone because I second guessed myself about needing my light. A good light would have been a blessing. Never again.

It always seems like that one day you don't bring something you always need it. Honestly I should have a multi-tool on me now though I don't.

Right now I have a traditional and a Spyderco Military. They both get used depending on the environment and the job. Yes, in a last ditch scenario the Military could save my life.

I carry a folder in my front pocket, bug on my keychain and one of my multitools everywhere. The appropriate tool is deployed as required.

I usually carry 1 folding knife to fondle, 1 folding knife for general cutting tasks and self defense, 1 large fixed blade in my pack for big cutting tasks, but it never really gets used and 1 small fixed blade as a neck knife for general tasks and self defense.

I carry knives everyday; it varies day to day what gets carried though...

I carry for utility/use first, showing off is second!

Today's:
