I usually just pry open with my hands but sometimes they are either wet from washing them before lunch and cannot get a grip to tear or my hands are greasy from a messy sandwich, so a knife is used, and also just because so I can use it.;)

And when I have a jar of peanuts I cannot get my finger under it to pull the paper thing off, I use my knife to cut it out.

Now that we have established that using a knife is the correct way to open a bag of chips (and that we have been invaded by barbarians) the best blade shape should be discussed.

Or not, because a clip point is obviously best, a spear point will get you by and tantos are just silly. Can you even open a bag of chips with a spey blade? What kind of degenerate would even try?
Chip Point blade.

I'm no longer "allowed" to eat potatoes. Rising Potassium levels due to impaired kidney function...
But when I could: no chip bag was EVER safe.
Whatever it took to get them open...
