Do you use a knife at work?

I use a knife every day at work. I'm an IT Manager for a Credit Union. I use my knife for many things including, opening boxes and packages, stripping/splicing cables, and trimming my cuticles.

I've never had anyone say anything to me about it. Then again, I doubt most people in my area would freak out about it. Plus, my boss, who is the Vice President, carries a knife sometimes and I have seen him bust it out.

I currently carry a Meyerco/Kirby Lambert Shockwave, but I just ordered my first Strider SnG, so hopefully, I'll be rocking that next week.

Destruction and construction. I use mine everyday several times a day for cutting and non cutting tasks.

There's no way I wouldn't carry a knife every day. Just may need to be more discreet.

Hen I'm farming there are all kinds of things I need to use my knife for.

Absolutely. I've got to strip wire, open boxes, cut poly-line, constantly sharpen my pencil, notch sheetrock, cut zip-ties, and do about a half dozen other tasks. Then I have to be able to wipe it all down, use it on my lunch, and then put it back to work.

I carry a Kershaw Cyclone. Great weight, fast blade, holds a great edge, and very thin, you cannot tell If I had it or not. I love it, I have carried it everyday for the past 5 years or so : )

I get paid to play with knives all day long, working in a large book bindery and mailing operation. My largest knife is 53'' long and 70 lbs of scary sharp steel. And yes, after 34 years, I still do have all my fingers.

I usually have at least two knives on my person on the job everyday. I am a supervisor in a automotive parts plant and I seem to always be opening or cutting or trimming or reaming or shaving something. I have given away at least 15 SAK's to Operators and or Leaders so they stop asking for my knives....;)

:D:thumbup:

I have always carried a knife since I was a kid. I carry and use a knife regularly now as part of my every day carry gear, I never get out of the house whit out one.
My knives are always dual purpose knives, I need them to be capable as weapons and serve as every day cutting tools when need be.

I ask a lot from my knives. At times I tend to even go beyond what they are made for, but thankfully, I have always been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the knives that I have. I believe that you get what you pay for, that is especially true when it comes to cutlery.

’m very selective of what I take whit me when I head out to work, guns, sub guns, rifles and knives. I depend on this things whit my life and the lives of my team mates, so I always get the best tools I can.

Being part of this forum has educated me a lot on what to look for in a good knife or axe.

You bet, every friggin' day.

And I make sure all the guys on my crew have a sharp knife at hand, if that means providing cheap knives, or in the case of more senior guys giving them good knives, so be it; and helping to keep them working sharp is part of the equation.

A knife is a tool, and if you don't have the tools you need to do a job you're wasting everyones time.

And we all know time is money.

I work in a motorcycle parts warehouse and I use mine all the time. Right now it's a CRKT M-16-04. I've worked that knife HARD and it's held up great. I can carry pretty much anything I want and nobody bats an eye cause they know I'm a knife guy.

I simply cannot even function at work without at least a SAK.

Litterally, only the worthless people at work are knifeless.

Iam a farmer, so I have to carry a knife. I hate having to walk around for god knows how long looking for one.My usual edc is a SOG flash2 I love this knife.I carry a knife even when Iam not at work its a Victorinox Soldier.A knife to me is a tool if I dont have it I can't do my job.

Yo Edwood, some mean looking tools there my friend.

As one who has spent lots of time in the border towns of Southern Texas,

...I can only hope you're one of the good guys.

I climb cell towers. When I'm on the ground, my knife opens containers, cuts branches and undergrowth, and whatever you put in front of me. When I'm on the tower it clips in either a side leg pocket of my bibs, or on my climbing harness. It cuts zip ties, it cuts electrical tape and weather proofing taffe (goey tar on a roll). And once, just once, (and God help me, hopefully never again) it saved our bacon (my CRKT M-16) by sawing it's way through materials no knife should be asked to go through. Link to the story here-

By "Work" I mean 9-5 day to day job, Active duty Military, Leo's, FF, Field Craft Etc
Would you carry a knife if the Job allowed?

I used to use a knife at work when I worked in the lab. Those labs did not have many technicians, so most of the chemists or engineers did their own bench work.

Nowadays I do most of my work on a computer. I pity the young engineers coming up these days who don't get hands-on experience. They have gaps in their knowledge base.

I still carry a knife every day at work.

As a mechanical equipment manager that maintains a fleet of golf maintenance machinery, my whole career is centered around knives. I grind them endlessly and am expected to keep my tolerances as tight as possible for the best possible appearance of the turf. Our facility hosts a televised PGA event yearly, so my standards are higher than most other courses in the golf industry. My blades include bedknives, reels, rotary blades, chipper blades, shredder teeth, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, pruners, machetes...just about every hand held and powered cutting device used in the agricultural and landscaping field. My men and I use many different handheld blades daily to aid in my task of maintenance and repair of my fleet, and I carry a Spyderco Tenacious and a Leatherman Wave on my belt, along with an led flashlight and my cellphone.
If I'm not using a knife, I'm sharpening one.
Occasionally when I have some free time, I use the considerable amount of scrap steel generated at my facility to make my own knife designs from.
Life, to me, is a knife.

I work in an office with a lot of women, so I carry and use a SAK there. Nobody has looked twice at it. The heavier stuff stays in my jacket or bag.

Only guy in an office full of women. Carry an Emerson Commander in my pocket most days, and keep a Leatherman handy. They've gotten so used to asking me to cut things, fix things and work on things that they are amazed when they ask me to do something and I tell them I'll have to bring the tools from home and do the job the next day.
I guess they think I keep all the tools in the world in my bike's saddlebags, including powertools... (I do have a hammer and some other useful bits and pieces and there, so I guess there's some reason to it)
