Do your Expensive EDC’s stay at home? Or do you carry less expensive EDC’s?

Well, if it’s “Truth or Dare” time on BF, then I have to admit that: If I want to carry one of my (relatively few) expensive knives then I will buy a second one so as not to harm the original…..most of the time on the secondary market. And I’ll sell-off something else in order to afford the back-up purchase. I guess it’s the old “two is one and one is none” concept.
Feeling somewhat relieved now having publicly admitted to it! 😎
We are here for you!

For me, there is no reason not to carry and use them. I don’t own anything with a mirror-polished blade or stuff with delicate bone or shell handles. I split hay bales with a Hinderer or a Sebenza and the knives don’t seem to mind at all. :)
Hi. I started this thread and am glad to see alll the feedback. Thanks! I am now expecting a Real Steel in the mail as my new edc second.

For sure, one person's expensive knife will be another's cheapo!
I usually take my "expensive" fixies to the field and leave my pricier folders at home: after all, what would happen to a solid well-made fixie? there is nothing to break. And a folder, yeah, you should be caring and gentle with it, treat it like your first date)) I don't care about scars and scratches, I just don't want the opening mechanism to break.

...although I have used a folder, Schrade 301, to baton wood. Schrade 301 is inexpensive (I can't call it "cheap" because of the deep respect I have for this knife) but one of the heaviest-duty (or most heavy-duty? what's the correct word?) knives I have.

...and that is okay. :)

Check out the Ruike (P801-SF) on Amazon. It comes in silver or black and to this date is the cheapest very high quality folding knife I have found. I've got lots of high end folders and not one of them beats this $33ish dollar knife for what it is. 14C28N and very smooth action. I always carry this knife with a random high end model I have. If I'm in a situation that cutting something I know might cause the knife damage, I always use the Ruike. Ive tried about 50 or so inexpensive Chi knives and this is the best to date. I have a black and silver one and thinking about getting another just to leave in my truck console.

They are carried gingerly until I break their new knife cherries. Otherwise, it's a cheapie in the pocket. Gerber 400, Buck Bantam or a Bear Grylls pocket special.

I don't carry and use every single knife I own, but I rotate through most of them. Whether they are expensive or not is irrelevant. What matters if if I want to.

If I didn't carry them, you would all have missed out on this great picture of Mighty Toadin.

So carry what you want, lest Toadin look down on you and bar your path to Valhalla. ;)
I heard the term "Toad Sticker" but I never knew what that was until now.

I’ve spent the last 3 years searching high and low to find my perfect EDC for my needs which is usually not hard use and I’ve landed on carry this Sham. Been carrying, using it every day for about 4-5 months now and absolutely love it. My second go to EDC is CRK Large Inkosi Tanto or Spyderco GB 2. Carried a Rosie for a little bit but the clip is a pocket destroyer.

Yah. I spent some time looking for my perfect every day knife and found out it was fifty knives between $80 and a thousand. Might have been better if I kept my SA Tinker and Buck 110 from Boy Scouts.

My most expensive folder is this RJ Martin ZT.

It’s one of my only folders with a right-handed clip because I’m generally carrying a pistol in my right pocket, so I don’t carry it often.

It comes out for weddings, trips to the mailbox, and other rare occasions where I’m without my pistol.
