Does anyone else carry a "backup" or secondary blade?

I live by the one is none, and two is one rule. I have a knife that lives in my wallet (A Strider PT CC Dog Paws.), and I always have at least 1 knife clipped to my pocket. If I am wearing my cargo sweat pants, I have 2 knives clipped to my pocket.

My main blade is my Micra. I always have a secondary, and usually a tertiary blade. Today, it's a peanut and an Opinel no.6.

Along with my DDC SnG, I carry an old Buck 301 and a IWB fixed blade, Strider MFS but lately a Newt Livesay Lil' Pecker.

In addition to a modern folder, I've always kept a slip joint in my pocket.

I always have at least two folders one large and one small, and a small fixed blade in a pouch sheath. I tend to use the small fixed blade more due to the fast deployment and resheathing, the small folder generally a SAK gets the least use and the knife blade stays razor sharp for emergencies.

No, I normally use my car door if I need more artillery...

Lol, had to.
I normally carry a modern folder and a traditional.
Due to my job, a knife makes the day Much more smoothly. Be a use of that, I have even put a Victorinox Secretary in my wallet. It stays there, just in case I forget a knife in the morning.

On your average day, I have 3 knives on me. Two separate regular use, one sees the inside of my wallet and doesn't move unless neither of the first two are there.

I pretty much always carry a small SAK (along with my fixed blade) on me so as not to rustle anyone's jimmies when I need to use a knife in public.

I don't, but understand why someone would.

It kind of depends on what I'm doing and what I'm carrying as a primary knife but I'll usually have a Manbug, Ladybug, Cricket or SAK Cadet with me too. Usually, the smaller knife I have on me is used more often than the bigger knife. I have several knives that have blades under 3" (Dragonfly, Chaparral, Urban, etc) and sometimes I'll carry those by themselves. Today I have a Manix 2 LW on me and a ZDP Manbug in the bottom of my pocket.

Cool guys.
Yeah, my backup is almost used more than my primary too ☺

Nope.

If I did then that would mean that the knife I EDC 24/7/365 was not able to do everything I need it to do.

And then the search would be on again for that knife....

I carry one knife, and my lifes mission (now complete) was to find that do-it-all for me knife.

Yup. I carry a Ladybug on a cord around my neck and a SAK in my bag. That's in addition to small fixed and larger folder lately.

Congrats!
And it is?

I pretty much always have two folders on me. I don't consider one a "backup," rather I just carry different blades for different purposes. I usually have a wharncliffe/sheepsfoot/hawkbill and then another knife with a generous amount of belly. This way I have all sorts of cutting tasks covered.

I always carry 3-4 knives on me .

I wear My micro neck knife for tape , thread ...ect, My main edc for the week , plus A LM micra or vic classic for the tweezers , and lastly my leatherman fuse with a blade that I don't use.

basically I carry 2 knives that I use and 2 tools with blades that are just there. I should probably get a pair of sliver grippers, but then I'd never carry my classic or micra .

To day I've got my two constants ( neck knife and + LM fuse ) then this week's edc which is an old imperial H6 fixed blade on my belt and finally a vic classic suspended in my pocket.

Usually a alox cadet is my second knife. Like someone else said its just to useful to leave home.

I keep a Leatherman Micra on my keychain to supplement whatever folder i'm carrying. That Micra was my sole edc blade for a decade. At times it wasn't enough, so I began carrying a folder as well. Been that way for about 7 years now, and it's a perfect setup for me.

I sure do. It might look like overkill but this is my work carry M-F. Shirogorov is on vacation with a blade bud, but that is my #1 go to folder. If it's a dirty, edge damaging situation I'll use my GEC. The SAK gets tons of use throughout the day as well. The sebbie.. I love too much to keep at home. I use it instead of the Shirogorov to mix it up sometimes.

My xm-18 took the shiro's spot today. Great folder.

So yes I like me some backup blades. Even if I'm not at work I've got 2-3 on me.

My SAK got a workout today. I had to rebuild the pump in the background. I used it to cut off the insulation, remove the cover to get at the electrical, disconnect the ground and the flat made for a perfect gasket scraper.

I didn't used to be a SAK guy but I am now. It actually had a few glycol baths today by accident. I'm glad it was the SAK and not the xm or sebbie haha!
