Unless you really enjoy doing the stripping work (in which case let me send you a couple ;-)), I'd say keep the MO as is and buy a CF one. A sterile MO with a camo coating may be more collectable, and if you sell it a little ways down the line, I'm sure you'll at least get your original purchase cost back.Comp finish is definitely the way to go for me. I plan to strip my MO version.
I see your point, but I don't mind stripping the coatings on my knives if I plan on using them. I don't consider resale value to be important on my users and I generally don't have multiples, so buying a second DS8 isn't really an option for me.Unless you really enjoy doing the stripping work (in which case let me send you a couple ;-)), I'd say keep the MO as is and buy a CF one. A longer version of the Basic-7, way cool this is!![]()
I think I may need 2So Jerry, I may also need a regular dog soldier in CF.
I am so pumped for this. Might even sell my B8 after I get one. It's a great chopper but like I said I like the DS choil better
My MO DS8 weighs 12.7 ounces, according to my digital kitchen scale.
That full flat grind makes a big difference, doesn't it?
Jerry, is there any way that we can get a CHOILESS version of this?
How about the SFC option, like the DS6?There are two ways to do this yourself. . .. . First, you're gonna need a really good soldering iron and about 2 lbs of silver solder. . . . Build a tinker's dam and fill her up! . . . Grind away the excess and Voila! . . . . You are in choiless heaven!
. . . Second, sharpen away until that edge is even with the choil.
Other than that. . . uh . . . . No. Sorry bro.
Let's Drink!
Jerry
