I use one of those three-drawer plastic dealios from the Fart store. Maybe a nice wooden cabinet one of these days.

I wanted to get a tool box with drawers to put on top of the dresser but the wife put the stop to that.

I actually plan on getting a lockable toolbox that I can bolt down to store my knives in. Right now all of my knives of value have completely taken over the top shelf in my gun safe.

Yeah its a good idea she just wouldnt let me put it in the bedroom. I have a bunch of folders, small fixed blades and lights that I use. They are just kind of all over my dresser and the top drawer.

A person can never have too many tool boxes. Now's a great time to catch one on sale. There are some pretty nice wooden ones at HF and elsewhere that look almost like jewelry boxes, and might not offend the wife's sense of decor.

Cool I dont think she would mind a wood one but I havent seen a decent price on one. I will check out HF

You're probably right. I've been meaning to go to a few auction sales to see if I could pick up a couple decent toolboxes. One for tools and another for knives and reloading equipment. I suppose if I could find a good sale it would be a good idea to pick up a new one.

This is the one I was thinking of. On sale for $80. Looks perfect for lights, knives, keys, and other manly stuff. Sorry for the ginormous pic :o

Estate/junk/rummage sales, thrift stores etc are always worth a look, too.

So how do ya'll store your folders? I'm wanting to get some sort of storage case, maybe like a roll-up deal or something. Space is tight in my room so I'm wanting something that can hold a lot of knives but is compact as possible.

I use a Sack Up and then store them in a plastic container.

Sack-ups for my traditionals. They're silicone impregnated.

Sadly (or perhaps not) I still have my 30" Toshiba I bought in 1994 (egad!) for the World Cup because my TV at the time was having issues of randomly shuttin off. Toshiba still has a lovely picture; hard to replace something that still works so well. The only suck part (also really funny) was I had a friend help me get it home (30" CRT is heavy) on June 17th, 1994. We were so excited to turn it on and enjoy the glory of my "big screen"..... and every single one of the 98 cable channels was showing the same thing. Here's your simple morning Google excercise, kids. First one to tell me why we finally turned the TV off wins a custom handmade lanyard sent to your door. GO!!

I've never had a flatscreen, been rockin thrift store specials all my life. I used to have a 37" CRT from the thrift store and that was a big improvement over the 26" tube I was watching, but that sucker was heavy. I could lift it maybe 18" off the ground and that was it. Problem is everything is in widescreen HD these days. I try to play video games and I can't read most of the text on the screen. I try to watch TV and the edges are cut off. Went to wal-mart just to make sure I had the right idea of the size. They still measure them diagonally but the widescreen means that a 40" TV really isn't that big, maybe even a little small for some living rooms. 40" is a pretty good balance between using in my bedroom now and in a living room down the road when I get my own place again.

And I remember that OJ chase, I was only 11 though. I was playing with my legos on the living room floor wondering who this dude is and why he was all over the news and why the cops were chasing him so slow.

I use a Spyderpac for my folders. They have a few different sizes and will fit larger folders too.

I'll check that out.

All my stuff has to fit in a single bedroom because I'm sharing a house with three other people so a tool box is out. I need something I can stuff on a shelf.

I wrap a lot of my folders and fixed-blades in the silicone gun cloths for storage, then just put them in a tool box. I'm thinking I'll try this method, though, since they get pricey to keep buying a bunch of them:

OMG Todd! The kids are going to lose their minds! How old will she be when you get her?

Incidentally, this was the year I was gong to get the kids a dog as well. A Black (male) Lab for 800, but it took damn near a week to convince the wife to get with the program and by the time she said yes they were all gone. Bummer.

So working in a climate controlled lab has its advantages and disadvantages. Chalk today up as a disadvantage but not for me. I spend quite a bit of time left alone and unsupervised. (just how I like it) So usually I dont have to worry about visitors. Today on the other hand was a tragic event for the head bossman who decided to bring in 4 outside engineers to meet me and see the lab. Unfortunately for them. They came through the doors about 5 seconds after I ripped a big ol greasy beerfart! :D Poor bastards all turned white about the same time. Needless to say the bossman was so impressed that he cut the tour a little short. "Sorry about the timing on that one" I told him as he was trying to get to the door without pukin on his wingtips! Something else for him to pencil in on my evaluation I suppose!

That's funny as heck!!

We got real lucky with the breeder we chose (knock on wood) we gave her a deposit and shes holding the pup for us until we come and get her. So, She (the breeder) is boarding he dog for almost a month by the time its said and done and didnt even charge extra for the service. Its gonna be a great suprise. the kids have no idea.

When I was younger I had a wooden and glass case that hung up on the wall where all the knives could reside. I soon out grew that and had to get another one. Overtime I have used tackle boxes, rubbermaid containers etc etc, but now I have a foot locker packed up with blades. I just store knives in saved knife boxes, cigar boxes, wrapped in paper, or a baggie with silica in it. Otherwise I have a drawer at my dresser set up as an EDC station. A selection of blades, pens, lights, change, lighters, and pocket junk. But that drawer is starting to invade my sock drawer below sssoooo they are kind of everywhere.

Either way, finding some cabinet or wall display cases can be a good way to store knives so they are accessible, out of the way, and become part of the room.

 good for you, I know the kids are gonna love her.

I do not have the numbers to justify a cabinet.....yet. So, like others, the top shelf of the gun cabinet gets all the knife love.

I have no gun cabinet, so mine are in different places right now. And I don't have a dresser or any sort of bureau either, so that kind of complicates things. Warrior Women store just shipped my new storage case, a padded mini-briefcase deal that I will be able to store and access fairly easily, I hope. was worth the 18 bucks to find out. This is the Kershaw one, but same idea:
