Don't Regret the Snark

I'm in the middle of moving again. This crap is fun....... So far we've had no heat, no hot water and still no internets there. So this week I'm going to be moving all my tools and what knots there to get set back up. Then hopefully I won't have to deal with all this crap for a while. :)

Love the new avatar photo, JT! I don't remember how old I was - probably 6 or 7 - when I decided to experiment with an electrical outlet

I must have been in my early or middle teens when I jokingly aimed a staple gun at an electrical outlet from a distance of about 2ft. Of course it went RIGHT IN and blew the circuit and the staple in half. Nice burn mark on the outlet as well. Good thing it was at the workbench in the basement. Dumb dumb dumb, and a good lesson that pretending to do dangerous things can ACTUALLY be dangerous.

Regarding the frequent Busse posting... I think we've seen enough of it here.
This is the third or fourth time it has come up, and rather than continue down this road, the responsible party (parties?) simply needs to cease.
Even if this thread is Off Topic chat, it keeps getting pulled into Busse chat, and there's a subforum for that. It's pretty simple. Post in the proper forum.
An occasional mention? Just a blip on the radar. Sustained mentionings and accolades of Busse products? Take it elsewhere. It'll be better received.
Refusal to comply will go something like this... "Failure to Follow Forum Specific Rules" infraction. Next? "Trolling" infraction. Next? That's three strikes and an inability to play at BFC.

I missed this and need better clarification, does this go for all knives and knife makers that have their own subforum?

It says post in the proper forum, so if there is a forum for the other knives they should be posted there as well correct?

Seems pretty clear to me. It got a little out-of-hand between competing manu's, and got distracting.

A place for everything, and everything in its place

I have no problems with that what so ever if it goes for all other knives that have a sub forum dedicated to them, and i will happily oblige. But if its just one, then it seems plain and simply wrong.

Im not trying to start an argument or debate this in any way im just wanting to know, im not trying to sass, to be rude in anyway , im being honest, id like better clarification.

I have no plan to ever post anything else about that company here what so ever now that i read that, but if its just that one company and others are still fine to post their stuff here whenever they want despite having a sub forum for them, plain and simple thats just wrong on so many levels.

Other makers and manufacturers don't evoke such butt hurt and bickering.

I come here for chat amongst friends. Not hissy fits.

Seems like a fair and sensible rule to me.

That is all.

It was the sheer volume of posting of a specific different maker, and the ensuing chains of threads, replys that got that button pushed. I think IF we see the same issues with any other makers it will be said about them as well.
I happen to know Guyon is a fan of the items in question, and just isnt a fan of the way those discussions kept going.

Good luck man, moving sucks!

I don't think I truly saw it that way. It didn't seem out of hand to me. I love knives. All knives. Too many knives I think sometimes. I like reading about different manufacturers and custom makers. And seeing the pictures, comparisons and talk about them. This Snark thread has been instrumental in introducing me to many makers that I would probably not have sought out on my own. Just my opinion.

Never caused me much angst as it was kept in the very "off-topic" of the snark thread, and I just skipped over it if I didn't care to read it; mostly I did read it - for the fun of it and also cuz I'm not that vested in whatever sniping went on. Then again, life isn't fair - and if the mods say so....then them's the rules.

Seems simple.

Post a pic of your knives, sure.

Lengthy discussions and debates, go to the proper place. Which means knowing when not to respond to something that can drag you where you dont need to go.

No bone to pick here really, just showing how I read it.

Well stated, Ray. I agree, especially since it's in the snark thread.

Ill just stop talking about it before it gets me upset, the facts are the facts plain and simple and Im not the only one who sees them. But thats enough on that.

Back to the snarking

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson went on a camping trip. As they lay down for the night, Holmes said: "Watson, look up into the sky and tell me what you see".

Watson: "I see millions and millions of stars".

Holmes: "And what does that tell you?"

Watson: "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Theologically, it tells me that God is great and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it tells me that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?"

Holmes: "Somebody stole our tent."

Talking about busse knives.

Ahhhh.... he-who-shall-not-be-named!!!

I am guilty of posting pictures and talking about other knives in the snark thread (Helle, BHK, Moras). If we are not supposed too I am sorry.

With that said I like browsing this snark thread to see what others are interested in.

I don't mean to add fuel to the fire but I enjoy seeing what makes other people happy. Knives, guns, pets, kid stuff, various foods containing bacon,... whatever.
