Don't Regret the Snark

Right on, Granite! Y'all most likely already know this... but if you unroll a buncha duct tape from the cardboard core and wind it back up on itself, it can still be re-unrolled and will be plenty sticky enough for, y'know, survival stuff. Several yards takes up only a couple cubic inches in a kit, BOB, etc... and weighs basically nothing.

ETA: plus, they make duct tape in cool patterns like pink leopard and Hello Kitty graphics nowdays... and we all know how important a friendly little psychological boost can be when you're out in the cold rainy where-the-heck-am-I.
My daughter's have inherited their dad's predilection for duct tape and have several rolls of the patterned stuff that they use to construct (& repair) doll furniture, school items, et cetera. I once repaired the throttle cable on my POS Renault "Appliance" (don't judge!) when it snapped one night while on the way to go snowboarding with some friends. Had to pirate a little wire from the stereo, but it was totally worth it not to have tunes and drive away leaving the kid attendant standing there with his mouth hanging open. He had assured me I would not be able to fix it. Mechanic my a$$. Duct tape and baling wire - the only repair kit you need.

Just got a new folder case in the mail as well as a Condor pouch that'll hold an Altoids tin with room for a mylar blanket, prolly. I'll try to get some pics up later, but I'm pretty stoked right now. Here's the Condor stock photo:

I have one. I keep my battery case in it: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ouch-And-Battery-Case?p=11691743#post11691743

Mylar "survival blankets" take a lot of guff for not being very durable, and for being over-hyped. But I can say this much... one saved my bacon one time when a tent got badly torn up in a storm and I had to use it for a makeshift tarp. That right there convinced me that for the price and space they take up, it's worth having a couple.

This ^^^^^^:thumbup::thumbup:

Im always super happy to help :D

The thing that worries me is my daughter is sitting here as i help her with her homework, and she is the one that picked that picture out of all the hello kitty pictures on google image..... She said WOW hello kitty is so strong, i want to be strong like that

I said oh no you dont LMAO

On one of her homework sheets today im literally lost, its sad but true.... she is in the 2nd grade and i have no idea what this paper is talking about LMAO

I wrote at the top of the page, im sorry i dont understand this, and i told my daughter to give it right back to her teacher.

Her homework assignment page says to complete it... but im not sure how she is suppose to complete this....

There is nothing on the back of it, there is no 2nd page, im just lost with it honestly, i dont care that "I" dont understand it, but i hate that i cant explain it to my daughter so she can understand it.

For what they can do, and the plethora of ways they can do it, they are well worth the small amount of space they take up. If one has some duct tape and some craftiness one can make them a bit easier to manage, more durable, etc... or even repair them if needed, and for what they can do (namely, save your bacon) I think one belongs in every kit, even if just as a backup.

The Adventure medical kits survival blanket is in my experience the most durable and the easiest to work with. They are most definitely worth packing in your kit.

To me that page just sounds like it is explaining a test, but it literally says she needs to complete it... so i have no idea how she is suppose to complete that... except maybe changing "Chalk is probably make from" to "chalk is probably made from" LMAO

WW.

Well there is an obvious grammatical error in the actual homework... In the sentence "Chalk is probably make from _________?" Should be "Chalk is probably MADE from.... or MADE of..... not MAKE!" Circle that with a red pen and turn that SOB in. lol You MAKE something present tense, you can make chalk, but you cannot made chalk... however you did or have (past tense) MADE chalk. Does that MAKE sense? LOL

WW
Not to be too picky but a story that contains statements like "You might find" or "Maybe you find" is NOT nonfictional. And the question that stated that "Chalk is probably make (sic) from" is incorrect grammar. It should be, "Chalk is probably MADE from". Take her out of that school system immediately.:D

Where did this teacher get her degree? The 711?!?!?! lol Just kidding I know it is not easy to teach and accidents happen. It is just that you would expect more from someone who is facilitating a class. There are certain expectations. Just like you expect a cop not accidentally fire his weapon or cause a wreck... but it does happen occasionally. So it is a mistake on her part but stuff happens :D But seriously circle that and turn it in hahaha!

That was written by someone who doesn't speak English. I agree with Ray. Get her outta there immediately!

It definitely looks like the instruction page FOR a homework assignment that isn't listed there. Maybe they forgot to give her another page?

Im literally rolling over here seriously, i had to wait a few seconds to even type this because i was laughing so hard.

We are trying to get her into a private school now, it cost money but we have filled out paper work for tuition assistance and all, they said it would be next school year but she has a very good chance of going to the private school next year.

Kids here HAVE to go to the school in the district they live in, the only way around it is to get them into private paid schools and thats what we are trying to do. Its not just the fact they cant use proper grammar themselves, but my daughter has been the only light skinned person in her GRADE the last 2 years and i have already had to go down to the school twice because she was being picked on because of her skin, blond hair and blue eyes. so we are really trying to get her into a better school.

non-snark issue: finished an 8-mile run on Saturday and forgot to post that I reached 50.5 BPs, now I'm a bit frustrated to find the thread was locked!

snark on.

Oh man you guys have my stomach hurting from laughing!!

I went ahead and circled it, and wrote improper grammar beside it, and at the bottom i asked if a page was missing or something that needed to be complete.

I will say that I find grammatical errors in my 3rd grader's homework, and she's at a pretty good public school. That example is pretty bad, WW. There's a good chance her teacher didn't even write it; a lot of those sorts of things are made by one group or person as curriculum for the entire district or even state. Luckily - and remember this is coming from a serious grammar cop - having good grammar and spelling are not predictors of successfulness in life. My sister used to teach English and always had some spelling issues, and no less than a nationally recognized teacher friend of mine told me once that "spelling is not that important in the scheme of things...but perseverance is." I'd still red-pen the $/+!+ out of it, though. Just leave out the LMAO's, OK?

This has nothing to do with the topic at hand (poor spelling from a teacher) but I quest finished the lateset episode of sons of anarchy. All I can say is that it was crazy and I really want to see the next episode.
