My daughter's have inherited their dad's predilection for duct tape and have several rolls of the patterned stuff that they use to construct (& repair) doll furniture, school items, et cetera. I once repaired the throttle cable on my POS Renault "Appliance" (don't judge!) when it snapped one night while on the way to go snowboarding with some friends. Had to pirate a little wire from the stereo, but it was totally worth it not to have tunes and drive away leaving the kid attendant standing there with his mouth hanging open. He had assured me I would not be able to fix it. Mechanic my a$$. Duct tape and baling wire - the only repair kit you need.Right on, Granite! Y'all most likely already know this... but if you unroll a buncha duct tape from the cardboard core and wind it back up on itself, it can still be re-unrolled and will be plenty sticky enough for, y'know, survival stuff. Several yards takes up only a couple cubic inches in a kit, BOB, etc... and weighs basically nothing.
ETA: plus, they make duct tape in cool patterns like pink leopard and Hello Kitty graphics nowdays... and we all know how important a friendly little psychological boost can be when you're out in the cold rainy where-the-heck-am-I.
