Doug Ritter Mini-RSK® MK1-G2 Available!

I was hoping ever since the full sized was released a mini wasn't too far behind.

Now I just need to decide on color.

Resistance is futile. ;)
I was really only waiting to find out if my buddy wanted black or orange, and he wouldn't commit... so I bought mine. I've posted a few times that I'd be buying two if (when) they happened

And here she is. Came w/ a bit of that ol' BM blade play so it can be drop shutty. I don't like blade play. Tightened pivot a bit & blade play no more. Just a bit more wrist flick to close it like 98% of over 150 BM's I've owned. It'll wear-in nicely later on. Fires out just like my R2D2. Centered, no lock stick & sharp as all hell. Reminds me of the BM Ritter I had long ago, but better. All it was missing was a split arrow pocket clip.

First size comparison w/ others in the collection.

Ya welcome & back @ ya!

would be nice to see a carbon fibre version of this... g10 sometimes can feel too plastic-y (imho)
I hear ya. The most plastic-y to me is the BM Grips, RatI & II (which aren't that bad) & the BM Bugout. Just gross. These Ritters don't even come close to those. I've felt CF that feels very similar to G10 used on these Ritters. The CNC & thickness on these helps tremendously.

Would be interested to know if these come numbered like the initial run of the full size. I’ve held off from ordering one to this point until I find out if they have them (hopefully not).
No numbers on mine.

I do wish the yellow would come back but orange was a no brainer.

I'm wondering if the scale and standoff hardware/torx screws are interchangeable between this and the Deka. Might wanna change out the scale hardware on my incoming black mini for darker torx if so.

If anyone has both and can check, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could report back into this thread at some point. Thanks!

I remember when Ritter made a deal with Benchmade all those years ago and didn't quite get what the big deal was. Now he's partnered up with Hogue to produce a pretty similar knife. My question is, is the love for this knife primarily the wider blade and blade profile? As a guy who owns three Mini-Grips, a full size Grip, and a Mini-Presidio, what would I gain ordering one of these? I like the orange scales for visibility but I see it doesn't appear to have a deep pocket carry clip (which I prefer). Thanks for any input! I still have a little stimulus money left... ;)

I liked the blade profile. I owned both full size (w/ after market scales) & mini BM Ritter Grips. When the MK1-G2 came out, I notice the handle was improved upon, so why not try it. F&F is better & warranty work will still be present. I still own a few BM Grips. Love the sheepsfoot blade, non of them sport the factory plastic scales though. I've had the Mini Presidio too. Very good piece. I don't think you're missing out if you love what you've got. Of course, you don't know what you're missing if you don't try something new. Or however that saying goes. :D Also, the KM1-G2 does come w/ a deep carry clip. I installed a BM split arrow clip I had laying around.

Thanks for the input, appreciate it. I'd like a knife with orange scales and the full size version of the new Ritter knife has some appeal. I just can't figure out where it fits in my needs and wants list. ;)

I've had, carried, and used several mini grips (Ritter, 556-1/555-1, MDP/sheepsfoot, etc.). I like them, both in carry and use, for my fairly pedestrian EDC purposes. I have medium sized hands and was always a touch short from fully wrapping my pinky around the handle for a 4-finger grip in saber grip (my most common grip choice). I made due just fine, but it wasn't my preference but also not a deal breaker by any means.

I just got this Hogue mini Ritter in hand. My first impressions, to address your questions above, are these:

-The versatile Ritter blade profile with a much better factory grind/bevels (fantastic job, Hogue )
-Full 4-finger grip in saber grip with my medium sized hand
-Much gripper g10 on this Hogue vs Benchmade's g10 and noryl GTX
-Hogue mini Ritter is a touch lighter than the g10 555-1/556-1
-No F&F issues on this Hogue, the blade is well centered. Although, I've been fairly lucky compared to others in this regard with my past Benchmades.
-Better action out-of-the-box than my Benchmades; very, very close to drop shut with no blade play and no lock stickiness. To be fair, my Benchmades' actions did always break in quite nicely after some use.
-Lastly, you can get it your preferred orange color!

CSG CSG I hope this is helpful to you. Good luck in your choice!

How the heck are you guys getting yours already, lol? I ordered mine first thing on Friday and it still has yet to ship.

Not sure. I ordered mine the same morning they dropped, chose standard shipping, and live in central IL.

Thanks for the detailed response. I suspect my recently acquired Mini-Presidio may fill my desire for a Ritter designed knife as the medium size of the Mini-Presidio is larger than the Mini-Grip and far more stout.
