Doug Ritter RSK MKII - SHIPPED !! - was:Don't Spend All Your Holiday Cash Just Yet...

Man, I really like that one too. Nice pointy tip, just the way I like 'em and i bet with that grind on a 3/16 blade it's a heck of a slicer

What type sheath does it come with?

Knifeworks pre-orders these days typically require a small ($20) non-refundable deposit with the full amount not charged until shipping. Years ago they were no-deposit but I think there have been a lot of "oh, I changed my mind" situations. :(

BTW, I didn't get any note in the ordering process regarding how charges would work. I'm assuming the above is standard. I'll likely call tomorrow and check.

The sheath follows in the Becker tradition, taken up a notch. It is nothing fancy, in part because in my experience better than half of fixed blade buyers won't like whatever sheath you provide, regardless, and will have a custom sheath made for them that's exactly what they want. What you get is a sturdy black nylon sheath with a heat molded plastic insert and a pocket on the front. The pocket has an elastic top and is big enough to hold an Altoids tin. Sewn onto the flap over the pocket is Doug Ritter-Becker collaboration logo in gray thread on a black tape. The handle retaining strap has a stiffener to make it easy to unsnap one-handed. Lashing points are provided top and bottom and the back is Molle compatible.

Yes, I was expecting to see something about deposits, timing of charges, etc. I also half-expected to see an order limit, but didn't find one.

Hmmm...I like it. I like it a lot, and I know first hand that Rowen has a great HT and makes some tough blades (I own a few ESEE's). However, I think I may hold off until the Beckerhead Forum knife comes out...unless my buddy buys my shotgun, then I'll have some extra cash. :D

Ditto. Ordered it but still would like to know when to expect it:confused:

Doug, I took the liberty of bumping an old (and I mean old) inquiry thread over in the Camillus Collector's subforum and including info about this knife.

i know for a LOT of people who've been whinging about getting a BK10 someday, that this knife maybe a reality they should consider. sure, it's not a BK10, but between the pedigree and relatively similar specs, heat treat, and so on, it's going to be spot on and probably better than the Camillus generation of BK10s by a lot.

now, while KaBar is in theory going to do that special release BK10 sometime, and MAY bring the BK10 back sometime (not soon?), there's a factor of how long can you wait? :) pondering the aftermarket prices i've seen on BK10s, well, mmmm, good deal!

I wound if the balancing thingamabob is compatible with the micarta handles.

I'm sure they are. As long as you have a dremel and a drill, everything is compatible with everything.

I couldn't stop myself. I stumbled onto this thread and had to buy it. This is my third or fourth knife in about three weeks. I think I have a problem. Curse you BladeForums!

I guess it's okay though, I don't have a Becker yet. I like the ramp. It gives it a little je ne sais quoi.

Put my order in. Limited Run, Rowen Made, Becker and Ritter. Oh heck yeah!!

Holy smokes! When I saw this knife I thought, "I want, no, I need that!" Unfortunately, funds don't allow at this time! Darn it! Come on now, everyone buy these up so a regular Kabar-Becker version gets made!

As much as I want one, I really think I would like it more if it was KA-BAR. I imagine it would cost a bit less as well.

Holy crap!!! Not to mention blade made by ROWEN! WOW! I dont have the $ for one of these but I hope these first few go crazy fast so they will make more!!!

Looks like a very handy knife. Unfortunately at that price I think I'd rather get a couple other Beckers first.

Looks really good and totally plugs a hole in the lineup. It becomes hard to consider when a BK2 is what $65 or so on the market? For another $40 or so, the RSK MKIII is right there with fancy steel.

There are so many ~$120 knives to choose from that I'm not sure on how unique this one is by comparison. At a more typical street price around $70, this thing would be a shining star.

Knocking on the door of Bark River, Fallkniven, ESEE, the list goes on and on...the choice is tough unless one is a Becker collector.

I think that part of the appeal with this one is the fact that it is a limited run, which is going to appeal to those who do collect Beckers or just really like them. Plus it appears it's going to be a very capable field knife of excellent quality designed by two of the biggest names in survival/bushcraft. I always
hear people bragging on the quality of the ESEE line that is Rowen Made, the same Rowen that is making this knife and I would expect nothing but the same type of quality!! Plus you just don't see something new like this every day. It's worth a few o my coins:thumbup:
