Doug Ritter RSK MKII - SHIPPED !! - was:Don't Spend All Your Holiday Cash Just Yet...

Knifeworks charges 34USD for international shipping, and thats not even FedEx, DHL or UPS, just regular snail-mail.

Just to set the record straight, KnifeWorks uses Express Mail International Service NOT snail mail.

Knifeworks charges 34USD for international shipping, and thats not even FedEx, DHL or UPS, just regular snail-mail. That means we're up at 154USD for the Ritter. Now add another 40% for VAT, fees and duties and im looking at a total cost of about 215USD.

Unfortunately alot more than my finances can handle at the moment.

you could move :) sounds like a terrible country ;)

then again. send it to a "close friend" ;) and i'm sure you can have it mailed to you in pieces, as "parts" for display purposes ;) eventually. yes. that's it.

yup. it's not exactly going to be the best value for some, but it is unique.

alrighty, cross your fingers... 2 more weeks to go?

mmm!

The latest I heard is that since orders have been taken, its supposed to ship at the end pf Jan/11 on the prebooked orders. This info was stated by KW

just got this mail from knifeworks:

'''The Doug Ritter RSK® Mk2 is made in the USA by Rowen Manufacturing

Update on the Doug Ritter RSK MK2 that you have pre ordered:

We have been informed by that there is a delay on the arrival as expected. Due to the unforeseen in difficulties with the sheath. We are now expecting these around the end of February. We apologize about the delay and we appreciate your understanding.

Thanks
Roger'''

well. kind of expected, but still... oh well. i have shiny new Helle to play with.

more Helle to come :)

yeah - I was very happy to see that email until I actually opened it...
at this point, they could send me just the knife and I'd be perfectly OK with making my own sheath for it. :)
and yes, I know it's not KW or critter's fault. production delays happen - especially when the sheath is coming from a company in a country where the economy is built around the concept of "manana".

especially when the sheath is coming from a company in a country where the economy is built around the concept of "manana".

Just for the record, this issue isn't related to that kind of problem. It is an unexpected design and materials issue we need to resolve.

no fun.
best of luck finding a quick & relatively inexpensive solution!

Is now when we start griping about delays and talking about the manufacturer's integrity, business plan and mother? All I want to know is when are the knives finally shipping from Italy? I'm not a big emoticon guy, but this is where I would put the smily, winking one.

sorry - you missed your chance -- that was last month.
this month you're supposed to talk about your special forces background and perceived threats from women on their way to Nieman Marcus pushing baby carriages that may be full of high explosives - so this knife is a survival imperative... :D

I never thought to take a pic,not sure if it was displayed as I never found time to swing by the kabar/becker booth, Rowen brought the blade to the show & I seen it being handed off to ........

Dang Tony, you got to check out the Ritter/Becker/Rowen, and got to bring home the LS! Lucky dog :D

I am about 20 miles from the KnifeWorks store. I called to see if the had the new ColdSteel Trailmaster w/secure ex sheath and to see if they had a 'sample' Becker/Ritter collabo knife in the store to examine. They said no. I would have posted pics if one was available to handle. I guess I will have to wait like everyone else. Hate to drive over there and only leave with a DC4 sharpening stone. Me, myself... I am getting a little tired of all the 'wait and see' marketing attitudes seemingly pervasive in the knife industry. At first, it's kind of fun. Then it gets to be 'old hat' and my interest tends to peter out. Kind of like a beautiful woman telling you 'wait, just wait a while longer'. Or looking at all the new prototype cars and trucks and seeing gorgeous models that never see the light of day. After a while, you end just going with your 'old faithfuls'. Dagnabbit, just gimme whatcha got or else fugitaboutit. C'm on MAN! Either give the people what they want or just shut the l up. Don't just talk about it, be about it.

Get out of the trash can and pick up a camera once in a while! :D
