Doug Ritter RSK MKII - SHIPPED !! - was:Don't Spend All Your Holiday Cash Just Yet...

Get out of the trash can and pick up a camera once in a while! :D

I see you heard/read the LM story

Not sure if pics was ok being I only saw a few & The Man had one & the Other Man had the other & both got quickly tucked away.
again a fantastic piece !

well, about one week to go.

got updates? pictures? secrets? shipping dates? shipped already? when am i getting my knife ;)

i want metrics! i want milestones!

but mostly the knife ;)

I have a sheath on the way!
About to order my micarta for this one.
I am curious though if the balancing gizmos will still work with the micarta.
I may have to drill a couple/three holes in the scales to allow for these brass thingamabobs.

Got headache? I do! I hope to have a new liner design in hand next week and we'll make a decision.

With Micarta handles, unless you really want the balance to be handle heavy, I expect you'll probably want to leave the plugs out, but to be honest, haven't tried them on it and don't have any handy to experiment with.

oh, i feel ya. got a boss lately that always needs metrics and milestones. which is weird, never needed them before, but suddenly... :) it's like someone is watching HIM, so he's watching US :) heh.

any updates on the knive pictures? the new coatings? yar.

don't sweat the sheat tooooo much. i think you can be quoted somewhere that 50% of the people will hate the sheath anyway, and get their own (like Guyon - heh :>)

In my world Metrics and Milestones are what you produce when you can't produce real results.

It seems everyone is so busy these days trying to prove to their superiors that they are working. That they don't have time to actually do anything.

Too bad it is not 1/4" thick. Booo, hisss.

it's not? i want my money back! ;)

what is so magical about 1/4 inch? everyone seems to always want that. unless it's 3/8 inch. heh.

I just like something that i pretty much can't break even if it is used for an unintended purpose, thats all.

I snapped a flat prybar at work -- took it back to Grainger and they very politely gave me a new one -- especially after I told them no, I did not use a cheater on it. :D
1/4" thick just means you'll be more likely to hurt yourself when it finally breaks.

Price point is too high IMO for what it is. If it was in the range of the BK-7 & BK-9, then it would be spot on. Sorry. :D

Limited edition run by small manufacturer with a LOT of hands on QC?
folks pay similar for an ESEE 6, so I don't see this as a poor value -- you are however entitled to your opinion.

I just feel that way when I compare it to an OKC Ranger RD-6, which is 1/4" thick for &$83.00. I know many will disagree, but hey, thats what makes this world cool. We are all different, even though we share the same passions with knives. :D

does the RD-6 have extra, custom machining for weights? you get to pay for that too.

i'm treating it as a production custom. limited run. 100.

economy of scale. they probably have RD-6 in the 1000s? price goes down too.

as well thickness really, has nothing to do with price ;) if that were true, then the RD-6 would be as inexpensive as the BK-2, which runs around $60 ;)

thin knives have their uses. like the BK5. fantastic slicer. a thick knife cannot really compare with that.

personally, i hate the war cry "it's not 1/4 inch thick!" when such a thing really doesn't matter in real world terms. imho.

I see this "limited run" or "limited edition" in a lot in these discussions and I just want to be clear that while this could be a limited run of just 100, Roger and I and Ethan are sure hoping it is not, especially given the headaches getting it done. :( That's not saying it will ever be a production run of thousands, it won't, just that we do hope that it is popular enough to become a staple in my RSK line-up.

This is the note on both mine and KnifeWorks site:

"The initial run is 100 knives and each is serialized. Whether there will be more produced depends entirely on how well these sell."

Thanks to everyone for your support and patience. I am positive you will like the end result.

it would be fantastic if they are continued to be made :)

and for some, it's worth a little premium to get a knife under 100...

then the price can go down :D :D :D :D how about $5 less :)
