Down to 5 of your folders

Mission mpf 3 TI PE
STR HemMan TI framelock
Buck Mayo TNT
Cold Steel American Lawmen
Rat 1

Well, this is kind of easy since I now only have 6 folders...of course this list will probably be different in a month:o

Small Classic Micarta Seb
Buck/Mayo Waimea
Emerson CQC14
Strider PT
Strider SnG/Burke Pro-Rockstar----I just traded the Burke for an SnG, but there is a chance the Burke maybe be back, if it doesn't appeal to the new owner too be, either way one of these two knives makes the list.

Now ask this again in a month:D

Dave

2 yrs later and now I'm down to just 4 folders :o:

3" XM-18(primary EDC)
Small Sebe Insingo
Les Voorhies Mod.10
Boker Haddock

This maybe changing up shortly as I'm hoping to get an opportunity to buy a 3.5" XM-18 at the end of the month. So I have too decide which one, or two of these I'll have to move on to help fund the purchase

small sebenza 21
dpx hest folder
fantoni hide folder
benchmade mini doug ritter griptilian with kevin wilkins scales
lone wolf blackfoot with ebano scales

ss chive, its the knife i carry if i am in a non friendly environment.
delica, the knife i carry every other time.
starbenza, strongest knife i own and the only own i would feel comfortable taking apart and getting back together.
griptilian, biggest folder i have.
tiger coral kopa, best looking knife i have.

ZT 0551
ZT 0301
Combat Elite RRF
Lone Wolf T2 Harsey
Bradley Alias I (blue)

Well to decide this I had to do some thinking. Only five- Ok so sentimental, looks, utility, dress, self defense, outdoors.... all have to be covered. Went to the knife drawers and worked down the list a bit to:

Narrowed down to the winners:

CRKT Crawford Kasper Folding fighter- bigger fighter- self defense and big hard work duties- AUS 6 most likely, partly serrated. Great retention, oh- and the first knife my now wife ever bought me!!

Elishewitz custom folder- the ultimate in modern materials- Damasteel, Blue/black carbon fiber, white micarta, black g10, titanium liners. Solid lockup, a custom make, and feels great in hand.

Boye Dendritic Cobalt folder with marlinspike. Non magnetic blade, very soft RC30's I believe, titanium marlinspike. Awesome for cardboard, plastic work, the marlinspike removes all kinds of staples and light nails. great all around, I've used it for years in a warehouse. Birthday present for me from me and the wife.

Kershaw red handled Composite Leek: Speed safe, composite CPM D2 blade with a hybridized red smoke handle (looks too plain with the regular silver handle). My favorite color is red so it had to be represented. Great slim slicer in all metal.

Case Damascus Stockman. Damascus blade with burnt bone scales. thin blades take a good edge- looks very sharp. Slipjoint for those people uncomfortable with a pocket clip. Fit and finish are not the best but it does look great!

Special mention to my Moon Song Sebenza that I bought in memory of my Mom.

5 Isn't enough.
the purple benchmade what is the name of that knife I love that one

Umnum (EDC and favorite)
Small Sebenza Micarta Insigno
Snakewood Mnadi (Best for dress up)
Benchmade Mini reflex auto
Lone Wolf Harsey D2 Automatic (Great knife, way under appreciated).

buck 119
spyderco paramilitary 2
buck 303 that my grandpa gave me years go

Lets say the Knife God's made you choose to keep only 5 of YOUR folders that you currently have in your collection; what would they be? Not a dream team but five from what you already have-

For Me:
Custom Shop Buck 112 in S30V and Stag
Full size Grip in D2
Syderco Tenacious
Devin Thomas Damy Buck 110 in picked bone
Junglee Venom in ATS-34

Also, I think if you should add a new knife (I'm wishing for an Alias I) then do a update to your five.

Nearly TWO years: Update your Five!!!

So here I sit at my labtop avoiding things I need to do and I remembered that years ago I posted the question above to the forum. I thought at the time it would be interesting to see people's favored knives; the ones they most loved and would keep as their last five. So I'm looking at that original five I posted back on 2/6/2009 and beleive it or not I still have three of the five knives listed in the quote...the damascus Buck 110 was sent back and blade swapped into a frame with jigged impala horn scales. The venom was given to a buddy of mine many years ago and the Tenacious was recently loaned to a friend to take with him to Spain (he was visiting during a layover connect and forgot to pack a pocket knife). He never offered to give it back (it was likey confiscated at his port of entry in Spain). I was okay with that. The old grip is now the loaner for when friends visit and forget to pack a knife.

Since then I have bought and sold a lot of knives as many have done. I wonder who still owns the 5 they posted so long ago??

The thing is, I'm much deeper into my knife obsession these days and those orginal five do not make the final 5 today SO...

My five; at the least they are the ones I'm hot about at the moment. All five are new to me in last few months:
Hogue Ritter RSK in 20V
ProTech Mordax in 20V
Sypderco PM2 CF in S45VN
Drop/WE Keen in S30VN
Benchmade Bugout CF in S90V

It has been 10 years since the last post: Update your Five!!!

Wow. Over 10 years since the days of GSP and Silva. Time flies fast.

Tough question! Don’t have a lot of fancy folders right now, but I’m quite happy with these. All are users.

Spyderco Manix 2 in S110V (in case superior edge retention is a priority, but this rarely happens)
Spyderco Para 3 LW (discreet, lightweight carry)
Spyderco Resilience (EDC, food prep)
Cold Steel Recon 1 (EDC, defensive purposes)
Cold Steel Voyager XL (large EDC, defensive purposes, cake slicing)
