DPx H•E•S•T/F...ANNOUNCING THE HEST FOLDER!

The biggest problem we have with integral locks like the Axis Lock is trash, dirt and grime causing problems. The best lock we have found, bar none, for hard conditions where mud and dirt are going to be an issue is a framelock and an open frame design.

Makes sense to me

Hey Jeff? And anyone else to chime in, I have a Q about the hest and others in the product line. It just dawned on me/more like hit me; I am moving between wyoming and colorado soon, the esee line isn't adversely effected by the cold is it? Sorry to ask, its just the thought crossed my mind, and I don't really wanna buy other makers knives. As for an edc couple I am thinking my existing 5 and a soon to come folder would be a great couple. Any thoughts? I recently got a crkt to use for box opening duty and cutting jut cording when packages come, and on a bigger box for something for truck, the crkt's base of blade where it meets the handle, it cracked, I mean I shouldn't be surprised its a $15 big 5 sporting goods bargain buy, but I've gone back to using my emerson for cutting duty.

No problem. Just don't get 'em wet cause they will melt :D

Any chance of a flipper for easier opening?

I know a lot of companies use that, but I also know that a few years back that there were some Intellectual Property issues using the flipper. Some companies were using it without any regard to the IP owner. With that said, it obviously got settled but we will probably never use it.

I know we won't have this ready for the HEST folder but my thinking is to created a machine that opens and close the knife _________ times (figured by taking the average times you open a knife during a day, x 365 days x say 5 years and see how the locks hold up).

I will be that machine...

I just need a HEST folder! :D

RYP or R.A.T...

I am jamming on Somalia right now but we will send out the emails to confirm number, type of knife and finished ordered, method of payment and attach some pics.
I thought I'd followed the steps required to reserve one of these back in August, but didn't get the recent email message/progress report.

Now I'm wondering if I'm in or out... (but hopeful!)

Cheers

RYP will have to get with you on that since ESEE is not handling that side of it.

Terry email me directly with your info and number at ryp at comebackalive.com and I will check

I'm wondering about the proprietary pivot screwhead. Will a special spanner/tool be shipped with the knife, offered seperately, or not offered at all (like at first with the Umnumzaan)?

Sorry if this has been covered already, but wading through 20 pages to find the info. isn't realistic. And I did a search in this thread for "pivot" but nothing useful came up.

it's included as a feature of the dpman multi-tool & bottle opener that comes with the knife in the box.

Email sent - thanks gents!

FWIW, it would seem that confusion on my end (with some help from my ISP) was the only problem :o

Not a problem. Oddly enough if I want to send an email to 250 of my closest friends I get tagged as a spammer. But I persevere. I am really enjoying playing with my HEST/F proto and can officially announce that YES as one poste asked, the beer opener does work perfectly as a quick draw opener. The knife feels great, did some wire stripping with the jimping and feeling good about letting people know that this is the knife they expected.
We are going with a MILSPEC black coating and Olive Drab rough texture G10 from Halpert on the regular run knife and the black G10 rough texture and a Titanium Carbide coating on the first run.

We are getting ready to receive payment on www.dpxgear.com. Jeff is doing a torture test and we are just fine tuning specs.

Any idea on which dealers still have spots open for the normal production knife?

I've been thinking of getting a top notch folder I can use & pass along to the kid because its made so well.

This is it, if I'm going to buy a folder, it must be this one.

I hope theres still room on a list for lil' ol me.

Thanks.

Just a side note, will the Izula folder be very similar to the HEST/F as far as materials?

The idea of a totally solid, notchless blade is something I would consider.

Seems the notch on the belly of the blade would get snagged when you're dragging the blade across something?

I was told the pre-order list for the regular production knife is already filled up... is that true?

Does anyone know who would have the shortest "stand-by" list to get on worse case scenario if they regular production pre-order really is filled up?
