Wow looks pretty sweet. Gotta get one but dont really need one of those with a certificate since it will be getting heavily used.:D

Damn, I gotta say, that is looking awesome! Congrats on another great design. I'm sure it'll be another home run.

you guys did an awesome job on this knife! this is f'ing awesome, i'll be calling my contact soon to pre order one so i have it when it gets here! thanks for the pics

It looks Amazing, I want two. Yeah, definitely two. Jeff, will you post something when the serialized list opens?

Couple questions.

I noticed the add says "D2 stainless tool steel", out of curiosity is D2 no longer considered a carbon tool steel that has high corrosion resistance.

What is the RC on the D2? D2 can be a dangerously brittle steel when treated for edge holding and not abuse, it also becomes a p.i.t.a. to sharpen when it's done this way. (Although the green and red DMT works wonders on D2.)

guys can I say something and ask a couple of things?

I like the design and I'm happy it's made not far from my home
I know Gianni adn LionSteel and have and use a few knives made by them

I see the Folder has some features other knives don't have like the bottle opener, bit driver, line cutter and wire bender

I also see there is a "tool" in the box
I see it has a bit driver, line cutter 2 blades and a bottle opener

wouldn't it have been better to have a bottle opener in the tool only rather than having it also on the blade? it may weaken the structure and I like bottle openers but how useful is it in a hostile environment? and about the 2 blades on the tool, does it have a sheath? isn't it dangerous to have 2 /not 1) blades on the tool, I think the one on the knife is enough

same for the bit driver, aren't 2 too much? the wire bender may not be very comfortable with that design

I like the design but don't quite understand some choices, I have a few RATS I love, said from a knife lover

cheers from Venice
Maxx

So are the knives that are serialized and come with a certificate more? I know it's a stupid question, but I gotta ask. And how do you get one with those?

Try to read the first post in this thread. Final price hasnt been annonced yet.

I did. The price for a standard one hasn't been announced. I was wondering if the price for one that's numbered with a certificate would cost more.

We don't know for now. Only when RYP and Jeff will tell us that the ordering for those is open will we know

Maxx - the bottle opener on the blade is also a pot lifter, lashing point, etc... not "just" a bottle opener. (there were several threads about this feature on the fixed blade version of the HEST)
The tool that comes in the box has many multiple function features, such as the bottle opener, which can also be used to tighten wing nuts or other flat objects. Think about all the features on a Swiss Army Knife and how many of the tools do 2 or 3 different things.
2 bit drivers is a good thing - there are a lot of fasteners on the market that require a hex or torx driver on each surface. I can also think of times I needed a bit driver and a socket.

I might have missed it, but did RYP or Jeff say what was gonna be coming in the special numbered packages yet. Thats how Im probably gonna decide which to buy.

Damn! I was pretty set on getting an Izula folder... And now this!

What a beast! Love the tactical thought-through design.

We will do our best to answer all these questions. But first of all the most important one. The DPx H•E•S•T/F comes with a unconditional, no questions asked guarantee for registered owners.

The DPx family is a small group of enthusiasts, many of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting so its important that the product must serve the needs of the customer. That also means the realities of the paycheck. You will be very surprised (happily) when you see the price for a hand and small machine-works made small batch knife without stinting on any aspect of durability or quality.

By the end of this week we should have finalized pricing, final design and I think you will be surprised at what our international team has put together for you. It's going to be in that sweet spot between the "brag blades" and the "high end sorta likes":)) You have seen what Lion Steel has done in their high-end folder and we are taking it further with a totally fresh approach and design to tough folders.

We will be creating a website just to follow the creation, thinking, design and enthusiasts comments at www.DPxGear.com and will keep the Bladeforums up to speed as well. You will appreciate the attention to detail and I am stoked as well.. since I need a good folder!

The initial numbered and signed run will be only 250 with a small enthusiast run to be sold through ESEE's dealer network. Jeff has been pinging the network and we have had great response. Your comments are gratifying because that's what makes our products unique, real world use, constant improvement from hard core users and no concessions made to mass marketing or short cuts.

OK enough hype.

How would registration be done? Through the dealer? Thanks.

marthinus - RYP and Jeff have both posted that after they go over in September and get moving towards final production....that they will have all the details nailed for us.

my bet is that if you aren't committed to the prebuy list -
and those who are on it - are buying it no matter what.
(i am and I don't like folders)
that it won't matter. 250 is a tiny offering and prob. a guaranteed sell out.

BTW - a mr. DP tattoo would be cool!

The first run is going to be 250 I believe. After that this will be going into regular production. I have already talked to our South African dealer and he is just as excited to get his hands on one of these as I am.

I must have mist the post giving the info after September.

A tattoo.....nah that is to modern and time consuming.....just a quick walk by and branding and your done! :D

Hi there all

I started with a ISULA, few weeks ago and then was looking for a Ti frame lock folder to replace my current one.

For sure I will grab this one if I can.
