DPX HEST Folder

yeah a persons actions have zero bearing on their ability to make a quality product for the most part.. besides the fact that lionsteel is actually making the product and they are known for making good knives... i didnt post on the dpx forums and although i did choose not to buy the knife based on ryp's actions i am also glad i didnt based on the final product... i just have so many other knives that are very similar to the hest folder i dont need another.. i will still take a ZT or emerson over a dpx knife anyday but then again with the amount of folders i have i dont need anymore at all lol

I don't have any Emersons. I have a lot of Benchmades and Spydercos. I have been quite pleased with my recent Kershaws and ZTs. I aleady had the HEST fixed blade, and I like it a lot. I thought a folding version would be great, but at this point, my ZTs look a lot better. :D

my Ritter grips min and full are still my EDC knives i love that blade shape and yeah s30v is sweet

"RYP - do me a favor though and let's offer a HEST/F with more blade and a stonewashed finish"

patience grasshopper. Plenty more tools in the mix. We are just getting warmed up.

"Snatch this pebble from my hand...." hahaha ;)

If only Spyderco would offer an equivalent knife.
Their collaboration with Lion Steel probably will create such a knife.

Well, yes, but even while I am a big Spyderco fan, I wasn't immediately impressed with the prototype design - adding a spyderhole to the nicely proportioned SR1 brought the design out of balance, in my opinion.
I hope that Sal will have the prototype with him in Amsterdam, I might change my mind after holding it.

Huh... didn't they come out with a Ti/G-10 framelock, with a high-end tool steel blade? I thought I read something like that... :o

I just got 5 of the production models in today. I bought these to give away to some LE buddies of mine. Checked them all and I think the quality is first class. Gianni did a really good job on these. True, they are a little hard to open but nothing I can't deal with. Regardelss of everything that has happened on this project, from what I'm holding in my hand I can say I have ZERO problems with them. Of course I haven't beaten the shit out of any of them yet so time will tell on long term use but if they do as well as the prototype I have then I'm not worried.

RYP, I don't mean to come an a** in what I am going to say below. :)
I like my HEST folders a lot, I look forward to what you & DPX come out with in the future, I'll be a customer, and I wish you the best in your endeavors. ... ;)

BUT...... please oh please, learn how to use the QUOTE button on the post you wish to quote. Simply let click "QUOTE" on the post [bottom right of the post you wish to quote] you wish to quote and then you will be able to type your response right below it. :)

Best wishes......... :)

Buy 'em books, send 'em to school, and they eat the teacher :D

I type with my fists. If there are buttons somewhere I am supposed to push... I think I hit most of them... :)))

If you mean the Military, it's a knife I would love to own (I do own a standard one), but they are two totally different knives, two totally different TYPES of knife in fact. One is not better or worse, they just have very different purposes and designs.
Someone looking for a folder that can do what the HEST/F can do won't consider a Military. The reverse is also true.

:D .. :D ... :D

It ain't no big deal, it just saves the reader time figuring out who said the quote..... ;)

Jeff, the little darlings only eat the teacher if the teacher lets them.... in 28 years I only had bite marks once. :D It was memorable for the "student" too.... ;)

We'll have to agree to disagree. They are both marketed as "hard use" knives. They are both made of basically the same materials. You might think one is suited for it's intended purpose better than the other, but that doesn't change the fact that they're both aimed at the same market.

How does the HEST/F open using the bottle opener off of the pocket? Does it take much effort to overcome the detent? How is the lockup when opening it by the bottle opener (wave-opening)?

Does the knife look like it will be difficult to open with gloves on using the thumb-studs? Could you thumb the knife open with the bottle opener?
