Does the knife actually say RYP on one side?
That's Hot:D:D

Yes, it does.

"but I was ticked off and drunk."

then just edit it. I sure as hell wouldn't want everything said or did while drunk immortalized on the internets! :))) I know that comments like that are very hurtful to Gianni who is not only a very nice gentle craftsman but stands behind his products and family business. Me? I am used to drunk #$&&holes :)) Unless you are stoned child soldier holding a loaded AK to my balls I really dont' pay close attention to insults. I will tell you that we will take care of any concerns with our product. No questions asked (OK we may ask you where to send the money)

In any case the web is a dangerous place when you drink and post! :))

Why did you just edit out the part above about the OP grand kids not wanting to see his posts on the internet?
The reviewer is an experienced knife owner, has 4000 posts, and has been a member here for 5 years.

And "hurtful"?
Really?

This is a knife review and testing subforum not a pandering corner... imo, requesting edits of others for what may be construed as personal motives is not a good idea.

Well I don't mind editing out my stupid stuff and sticking to the facts. I really was dangerous and off the meds last night. I am still going to tell it as it is, but in a sober and reasonable way. Every now and then (like during my birthday week), I drink too much. I will do a more thorough review once it breaks in a bit, since it seems to be the opinion of RYP and Gianni that these folders need that to funtion smoothly. At this point, I still prefer my other birthday knife, the ZT 0350.

You think so? I thought it had a great look to it. It's not sleek like a Benchmade DejaVoo, but I like the look.

yeah same here. really liked the look, so i bought one, and so far i love it. although i suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

Yes, it is. I happen to think both the HEST and the ZT are ugly. This is my idea of beautiful.

all that brass reminds me of those old people who buy gold or champagne colored cars with fake convertible tops and gold emblems and trim bleech

but i would take your knife over a hest folder simple because i know its gonna work 100% of the time and it doesnt have someones name on the blade..

Same here. The knife (as most knives are) is a tool... to me it looks like a tool. Utilitarian and ready for work. Regardless, I buy tools for their utility and not their looks.

As a lot of Spyderco guys found out, you have to hold them and use them to really see them. They're designed around what they do, not the glitz someone can put on them.

The HEST/F was designed right from the HEST, which was already a successful design. The problem with folders is that all those extra little parts take time to work their way into place -- in the design process, in the manufacturing process, and in the breaking-in process.

Yes, but come on now, Esav, tell the truth: You think that Randall is beautiful, right?

Some advice. The HEST/F was shipped with the tension tightened because savvy customers were concerned that some states, countries grab knives they deem as flippable. You have a free tool that allows you to adjust to the correct tension.
Hey Horn Dog, I think you missed this part. I probably would have missed it, too if I hadn't carried mine for a day and ran for the adjustment tool when I got home. It makes sense to tighten it down when it's provided with the adjustment tool. I went counter clockwise not even a quarter turn and almost all of my problems went away.

Good luck!

Thanks. That was the first thing I did when I saw how stiff it was. It is still a beast to open. I have two hand opened and closed it about 300 times.

It's true, it's true. Against my better judgment, this will be my next knife, and you can just feel the Scagel oozing out of the pores of it:

Let me know how it goes, I went through my first day of carrying it, then put a nice half inch long cut across the end of my right hand's thumb. I won't be working on mine for at least a few days. =\
