Meako, thank you for showing Earl such a great time!
He seems a little tame after torturing Duncan! Maybe that bootcamp is really doing something? As I have always heard, though, ya can't teach an old dog new tricks, and if Earl is anything, he sure is an old dog! Don't tell him I said that, he'd be pissed, and I wouldn't want him coming around here any time soon!
Thanks Evan-I'm wondering where he should be packed off to next. Earlier in the thread Glen H from South Australia expressed an interest in hosting our intrepid traveller. That would also make for a nice evenly plotted course on ye olde mappe.
I haven't seen him on here of late tho.
Here is todays pic.EARL at MT Keira summit a whopping 454M ABSL-it takes about 40 minutes on the MTB to the top and a smashing 8min to get back home.
You can see the bustling metropolis of Wollongong down there to the right.
Footnote-Sadly I am probably the most cynical and negative person that I know. I see the whole EARL deal as a personification of our happy internet village. Yes EARL is merely an inanimate object but what does this global journey truly represent? The connection. I would have to say that there are many people on here whom I would welcome as guests and make some attempt at showing them round the place I live and meeting the family. I believe that if it was me visiting your place this would be reciprocal. I am honoured to be included . This means something to me and I cordn't be happier .
I really enjoyed getting the chance to show Earl around, actually showing all of the interested members places I like around my home area. To me, this is a special thread and I would bet that anyone expressing an interest would get a chance for a visit.
Once Earl is in your hand, you will feel the good Karma.
Meako, congrats on your award! It's good to see EARL getting out to the country side. I MTB as well and as you said, those rides downhill are so much faster. Quite sketchy sometimes also that when you hit the bottom you have no clue how you got there safely. I've actually put holes in my gloves from some downhill rides...not sure if the gloves were worn or it was because of the death grip!
The view from the top there is amazing...and EARL looks good too!
What a cool thread. I had an uncle Earl, could he have been THAT Earl?
If Earl wants to continue his journey, and visit the beautiful Big Sur Coast just let me know, I'm a Director of a small Community Center in Big Sur; we would love to show Earl our recently reintroduced California Condors, and the world famous coastal scenery they now fly over. He would get a glimpse, (and maybe a tour), of world famous Hearst Castle along the way.
Much like Sonny14 I've really enjoyed this tread. And surprise! I too had an uncle Earl.
I would like to invite Earl to the Central Valley of California where he can visit Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks. Even if Earl can't come for a visit I will continue following his grand adventures.
Great pics, Meako. Looks like Earl enjoyed his travels with you and he fit right in in your man cave. Congrats on your award. You really clean up nice!
You have certainly showed the good Earl around your area like royalty, and if you ever get to my area, I have a place for you to stay and I'll feed you and yours right.
