I´ve been out for a walk this afternoon with my son Max at the age of 1 3/4 year old. I handled Earl to my son. They seem to work great together... ;) ... I hope there will be no unholy alliance delivered.

A nice Barlow almost fits great in his small hands, doesnt it?

Andi, that is just priceless! One of Earl's best photos yet!:)

Well ... thanks for the kind words gentlemen :)
Much appreciated!

I invited Earl for a great meal for lunch. We had boiled bloodsausages, steaming Sauerkraut, fresh dark bread and some local brew. Now I gonna take a nap on the couch... it was a heavy lunch :D :p

BTW: This is my most favorite meal on Earth. I can´t imagine something tasting better than fresh bloodsausages. Roasted they aren´t bad either.

Andi, that looks like a marvelous Saturday lunch!!:p I love sausage (I've never had blood sausage, though) and sauerkraut, and often have boiled potatoes with it, too. Are the potatoes ever added in Bavaria?

Andi Sir - great to see Earl there with you-maybe you can install some manners into him!
Looking forward to more photo's my friend.

Thanks fellas, much appreciated. The only thing I was wondering while I took the pic was the my son actually stood still and didn´t move, even a little - so this pic could happen.
He has beautiful hands, I think. Propably the most important person in my life...

I was out for a little walk today... Earl in my pocket - it was a nice sunny day today. Nice day in the woods

@ GT: Sausages are a great meal, in general. But bloodsausages are the best, IMO ;) About your question: Yes, we usually use to add boiled potatoes to our sausages. Actually they are actually served at the bloodsausages with sauerkraut and a bread-soup (with fried onion rings added). Liver sausages can also be served the same way.
But I wasn´t in the mood for potatoes, somehow.

Great to see Earl has been out and about with you again today Andi

When I lived in France, I used to fry blood sausage (boudin noir) with diced apples, works surprisingly well

Humppa! It's great to catch up with Earl! Great pictures, I'm sure his visit with you and the great country will be great!

Awesome Humppa - everyone takes such nice pictures of Earl.

Should he be unlucky enough to come to the cornfields, I will take him to the birthplace of the track-type tractor and to some of my favorite local locations.

best

And how!
"Tiens, Voilà du boudin" is the official marche song of the Légion Etrangère : https://youtu.be/hhFlWo9X444
the "boudin" is the nickname of the rucksack. Poor Belgians are quite mistreated because when the Legion was created (under Napoleon III) the king of the Belgian forbid them to engage. So, the song says there's black motion pudding for the Alsatians, Swiss and Lorrains but not for the Belgians.
The song is quite "slow" because the Legion walk at a slower pace than other armies.

Thanks for another fascinating piece of information JP, I didn't know that. I used to teach English to a French gentleman whose father was an Legion officer in Algeria, where he grew up playing with scorpions! His son was an officer in Guyana, and involved in the missile programme there.

Grand Père spent WW1 in Algeria / Sahara, Mecheria is the name of the place, in a redoute (like an other Mérimée's novel - l'enlèvement de la redoute-), a name for a small fort.Life was tough, but somehow they managed also to have good moments (these are outlines for 1916 ' july 14th's meal menus - left simple soldiers, right warrant officers).
A good opportunity to take the Laguiole for the day.

Fascinating JP, what a great piece of history

These are the unexcited days at work for me... when I leave early and come home late. The daylight is almost disappearing when I leave my work and there is no more light left int these months when I come home - espcially after a 45 minutes ride each direction. So no good pics of EARL and my environment during week. But he is a good fella during the week. A great vintage Barlow.

I hope I can get more pics during the next weekend.

OK Andi
I triple dare you to take EARL into your work place and get a photo of him sitting in the bosses chair:D

Thanks for the food advice, Andi! (The only German my daughter knows is, "Es schmeckt am besten!" I thought it was important for her to be able to express her appreciation for a good meal. :p)
And thanks for your hospitality to EARL! ;)

Earl seemed to be a little homesick after all those months of traveling. So I will give him a cure this afternoon. We will go to the fire range and gonna take my Marlin 39A with me, and a bunch of .22 lr ammo for target shooting with this buddy. What could be more american than an Marlin lever action gun? ;)

Maybe I can get some pics on the range - coming on after.

Hope you and Earl have a great time Andi
