I hope this thread can pick up some traction  Earl's rate of progress around Europe (where he arrived in JULY) has been disappointingly slow so far![]()
Simple concept - Receive Earl, take some photos, post photos here, pass him on to another member who wants to do the same
An invitation has been sent.Perhaps Earl could spend Christmas in Paris?
An invitation has been sent.![]()
I was really hoping for some pictures of Earl around Bavaria!!

+1:thumbup: Thanks for that Jack!
Easy, Bones...Ok... long story short ... Earl will leave here ASAP.
I wasn´t familiar with the concept.
Sorry slowing down the track, guys. It hope the time with Earl in Paris will be more satisfying than the days here.
Almost wrote Jollipapa an email.
Just to clarify, Earl arrived with me in Leeds, England on the 2nd July. I sent him off to Paul PMEW on the Isle of Harris on the 19th July, and he arrived there the following day. We saw nothing of Earl for the next six weeks, and so I contacted Paul. Paul sent Earl to Samon, who had requested hosting him next, but by this time Samon didn't have time to host Earl, and so he was sent on to Paul Mason in Andover. Earl arrived with Paul on the 13th September. After a great visit with Paul and his wife Jan, Earl was sent to Chui-888, arriving in London on the 8th October. After an uneventful time in London, and a delay caused by the misplacement of his suitcase, Earl was eventually dispatched to Andi in Bavaria, where Andi posted about Earl's arrival on the 13th November.
So bearing in mind that this thread has been running for nearly a year already, and that there are many more members (particularly in the US) wanting to host Earl, I don't think my comments about Earl's ponderous progress during his stay in Europe are misplaced. Since he arrived here in Europe in July, I'd personally hoped that he could do a round of our regular European members, and be on his way back to the US before Christmas. That that has not been possible is not because he has been doing so much European sight-seeing I feel, as this thread bears evidence. There is no need to rush, but if this thread is not to drag on for a decade, simple logistics need to be considered by Earl's future hosts. In my opinion, like any other thread, it's posts that make this thread FUN, if there are no posts, it's about as much fun as watching paint dry.
I'm not sure why anyone would be aggrieved by any of the recent posts here, or indeed why they would be in the least bit controversial, but I hope Earl enjoys a Happy Christmas in Paris.
Jack

Captain, Earl on duty since this afternoon!Easy, Bones...(Original Star Trek reference, in case younger people don't get it.)
Thank you, I'll try to!Fantastic JP, great to see Earl in Paris. I'm sure he'll have a wonderful visit
I am impressed by Earl and quality of this old guy! I'll have to wait for next week to get him to touristic places. Tomorrow I go and see a rugby match but no way you are allowed to enter with a knife, even Earl!Glad to see Earl arrived safely and with no hint of any travel woes. Very picturesque city scenes Jolipapa, enjoy your time with Earl.
No no, they don't care at all. Perhaps would they notice me if I were yelling and gesticulating with Earl opened. He's currently talking Schrade business with you know who!Earl has the conn!
Do you get funny looks when you photograph jackknives in such crowds?
