Ebay #190066504405 GDOT Barlow,Prices are rising!!

Larry,
I know it's a stockman, I was just talking GDOT prices in general. It seems like it would stand to reason that they should all be fairly evenly priced if production was roughly the same...Does anyone have production numbers on those knives? I'll have to double check but I think my barlow is something like 10,440. That's a lot of knives...
Eric

Please check. I am coming up with a different number. And they were not produced in equal numbers for all patterns. I believe the GDOT 1 stockman was nearly 20,000, and the GDOT-2 Stockman was about 15,000.

Michael

I hate to ask about a fixed blade in your folder thread but what about the 152 GDOTs.How come they go for so much.Arnold

We should look and see if the numbers of fixed knives in any pattern come close to the folders.... Im betting not. ;)

Michael,
I meant the actual number on my knife. I figured they had to go somewhere up in the teens at least. Speaking of these GDOT stockmen, did you ever see a two knife set that contained a brass bolstered stockman and a copper bolstered stockman with shields to match in one box?
Larry,
That is one incredible price, that guy (the seller) just won the lottery in my opnion.

Wow! $255.00!, That might even tempt me to sell mine. Same box and everything, serial # 09749. I have two, one numbered with worked liners & one that is not numbered & liners not worked. At almost 8 times I paid for it, that would be tempting................but it is not like you could replace it.

Nope.........I think I will keep mine. :D :D :D

Larry,
Got some info on your barlow- send me your e-mail address.

Thanks Eric, I just placed a bid on a Barlow thanks to our member Scott pointing out a listing to me.#150076109742. Its mint however is in incorrect box and paperwork.Ends shortly and I will see how I go...I have the telescopics out and looking for "Koala Bear Tracks".....and in the words of the great Winston Churchill...'on the ground,in the air,and on the beaches,we shall fight them!!'..
I really appreciate your consideration Eric.
I received a great personal email from Scott, this forum 'family' really has a lot going for it. Hoo Roo

Now the prices start rising?! I just sold a boatload of original NIB schrades and I actually lost money on the bulk - especially the rarest ones in my collection! ( a winter bottom PH2 and a 127UH went for half what I bought them for!) Just goes to show you, you can not count on any market - not even the "collectables" market. Ah well, I just made my last Schrade listing and I will not be selling any more knives on eBay - well, not any Schrade's - not for a long while. I think I will continue to list the cigar ashtrays and lighters that I get as freebies from my cigar supplier - how many can I use?

I was the most dissapointed with the prices of the 885UHs and the LB7s. Which really confuses the hell out of me - they're two of my favorite Schrade folders! When I bought them, I was paying over $40 for a NIB 885UH (including the shipping)and around $40 for a NIB LB7. I sold the same knives for $25 - $35 this past November and December after holding on to them for two years. I should not have "stockpiled" my favorite patterns. If you can learn anything from my experience it's that "stocking up" on your favorite pattern is probably not such a good idea. Buy a MIB example and a very nice unboxed example to use.

I guess the real trick to collecting Schrades is to buy what you really like and never sell... Expensive thing to learn.

That's the one Larry, do yourself a favor and don't get sucked into a bidding war until the last possible moment to avoid driving the price up. Good luck!!
Eric

Well:rolleyes: - - -my knife's happy!!:D !! Yoo Hoo!!

That copper mounted knife is indeed an oddity! No telling who that was made especially for. How do the serials line up for the pair?

Copper and Brass! What a kewl set, Eric!
