EDC knife while wearing a suit?

Bark river city knife is what I carry and I really like it. I call it my city knife with a country attitude.

The two gentleman's knives that I've been looking hard at are:

The Benchmade 482 (Megumi):

And the William Henry E6:

I would suggest a Spyderco Kopa, Victorinox Pioneer, CRKT Eros, or maybe a Three Sisters Forge CCT if you want small and very sturdy. Spyderco Caly 3 would be another good choice.

I wear a shirt and tie to work daily and a jacket a few times a week, so my choice in a EDC for work is something with a 2.5" blade or less. I have a couple of Chives, a SOG Flash 1 and I just added a Spyderco Chicago. All are what I consider small knives and work well in an office environment. I like the fact that I can also use them as a money clip as well. My next purchase will probably be the Spyderco Leaf Storm. Good luck

To a suit, I wear my Case Sway Back Gent in Old Red Bone Pocket Worn.

An symbiose between a true worker and a gents knife.

Kind regards

I've wore suits for a while in an office environment. With the offices I have been in, the last thing I wanted was for someone to take notice if I was opening an envelope or trimming a thread.

The Case sway back is nice or maybe a Buck 303 cadet or 309 companion. And there is always the Case peanut. Of course a SAK usually goes unnoticed also. All well under $200. You may even be able to find one in damascus.

Good luck in your search.

I can't believe we are getting so many CRK Mnandi suggestions. With a budget of $200, he is about $100-$150 short of being able to get even an entry level Mnandi. Great knife, but way out of his budget.

My suggestions would be the following (all knives I own or have owned):

CRKT Eros: 3" blade, 1.3 ounce weight, incredibly thin, titanium framelock, IKBS flipper. Super-Light, very thin, has awesome looking machining, with the pocket clip off, it would disappear in pocket. Very, Very gentlemanly.

BM 960/HD 13960 Osborne: 3.1" blade, 2.2 ounce weight, very thin, Axis Lock, Aluminum and G10 handles. Still pretty thin, but more substantial then the Eros. Nice looking handles, HD version has many different colors to choose from. Available for $90 from a certain online dealer. HD ones do have Harley Davidson etched on the blade, so that might be a turn off.

BM 707 Sequel: 2.9" blade, 2.6 ounce weight. Thing, Axis Lock, Aluminium and G10 handles. Handles are a little short, but still graceful and ergonomic. If I had slightly smaller hands woulda loved mine enough to keep it.

Case Peanut: Really all you need for 95% of knife tasks while wearing a suit. 1.2 ounces. Very classy.

Rough Rider Barlow: At this price, just add it on to any other knife. Still small enough to carry easy, has outstanding fit and finish, especially for price, gives you some traditional class you can add on to a more tactical knife in a pair. For $10, why not?

My suit knife is the boker plus anti-mc titanium handle ceramic blade. Light and sleek and dressy. Much less than 200 bucks I got mine for 45 or 50 bucks.

I'd recommend the Moki Aries. I have one and it is nicely done - 2 3/4" blade with bone handles.
There are a number of nice Moki models, including some with mother of pearl inlay.
All are under about $150 or so.
I have a Mcusta Take in Staminawood. It would also be nice in Cocobolo or Ebony. It is a small knife with a blade the size of
the Aries, but with one-handed opening.
Also consider the Spyderco Chaparral.
For a suit, I wouldn't want anything larger than these knives.

Will back up Big Barn on this one: Case Swayback Gent, mother of pearl version is a beaut.

You may even be able to find one in damascus.
I was just going to post this in lieu of my forgetting the budget criteria. Case has some very nice damascus blades that would fit this role very nicely.

That is a good point. I completely forgot about the budget issues. However, yesterday there was one that went for $225 in the exchange. So if you are patient, you can find them near this price range.

I carry a Bradley Alias II as my dress knife. The plain titanium looks fairly classy and it won't tear up your pockets. My boss has a damascus Sebenza though, so it looks fairly plebeian in comparison.
