Edc weight really that big of an issue?

Weight has never been issue to me. What matters more is the size (hjuk hjuk) and the comfort of carry.

I love clips— preferably deep carry— and I hate heavy knives.

For me, an EDC should be thoughtless. As soon as I have to worry about it dragging down these shorts or bunching up those slacks or wearing down the fabric of a pocket based on weight, it's not a serious consideration for EDC for me.

Decades ago, a classmate of mine (who was very into long-range backpacking when the lightweight gear started coming out) said, "look to the ounces, and the pounds will take care of themselves." I EDC several survival kit items in my daypack, along with my EDC blades. At some point, the ounces take their toll. I EDC a (very light) small fixed blade and a Wenger S557. The heavier knives get an outing when I put on a coat.

lol, it's the phrase before that, that was my intent...:D

Since I wear cargo shorts 95%+ of the time weight of my EDC does matter,. Not so much with jeans, but I still have limits.

I think size is more of an issue than weight. Alhough weight can matter with certain clothes types. For instance, if you put a swiss champ in a pair of gym shorts, they're liable to be around your ankles if you start running.

I do not carry a purse, so everything goes in my pockets. Therefore, weight is a big issue with me. I do not carry anything over about 4.5oz and will alway gravitate to less weight as long as the knife is still strong and dependable.

weight is not an issue unless your knife is never on you because its too heavy

Sometimes people just need to be honest with themselves and admit they would carry a knife 100% of the time if it was lighter vs 85% because they like heavy knives.

EDC it's always on you. Leaving it in the car doesn't count.

That's my rant on the topic.

you can carry the biggest heaviest knife for EDCbut if you skip a few days of carry because its cumbersome its not really an EDC

I do not carry a purse either.
I do, however, wear a belt. :)
Hence, weight is not really an issue for me.

I don't carry folders that weigh more than 10 ounces (each) though, generally.
Unless I really feel like it. :D
Pants still do not fall down.

Carry heavy knives
If you wear a belt with them
Pants will not fall down

It's not a purse, dudes.

It's a man bag.

What? We have to own it, right? Empowerment. I believe.

It's not just keeping the pants up that's the issue. Dress pants just fit, and support items in the pocket, differently than jeans or sturdier pants. A big pocket-brick of a knife sags and just looks bad in thinner pants.

My brother had a ZT 0551 in the pockets of his tux during his wedding. :)

I had to wear dress pants for a while, and I found that many of my knives worked just fine.
The thing that mattered more than weight seemed to be the angle of the clip to the handle, and how it worked to sit in the pocket; some would sit in there just fine, whereas some lighter and smaller knives just made it look all wrong.

I guess that's true. I never really had a problem carrying a Kershaw Damascus Scallion in dress pants, I guess because it's so thin and slender. I've just gotten accustomed to smaller knives at this point.

Weight is important, but not a deal breaker for me. Depends entirely on what pants I am wearing whether or not the weight is important. Weight is very important when I wear my jami bottoms around the house, but outdoors, not so much as long as I am comfortable with the closed length.
