It's a fun journey. If you don't have friends who are into it locally, almost anything you'd need to know can be learned from YouTube videos. If you don't have a good shop nearby, there are amazing deals to be had online. Samplers or 5-Pack Fever sales are great ways to try different things and see what you like.

Especially when getting started, the best way to store cigars is in the glass versions of Tupperware with locking lids for an airtight seal. Add a 65% Boveda pack. (That's the right humidity level for air-tight storage.) So long as your home temperature is reasonably stable and not super hot, you'll be good to go. It's the easiest humidor setup and you can always set up more if needed.

BTW, Spanish cedar pen blanks (Spanish cedar and not other kinds of cedar) are cheap and easy to find online. They have a similar form factor to cigars so they store nicely together. It seems to help the humidor environment, both for short term storage and longer-term aging. Just one is good for up to twenty cigars.
