My first real EDC was a Victorinox (don't know exact model) but it is very silimar to a Case Hobo knife when I was little.

Victorinox had a SAK with separable folding knife and fork - like the
Case Hobo knife?

I didn't know that -
would have been a very interesting model.

Round about what year was that, please?

Thanks,

Well not exactly, It had a blade, a fork on one side of the handle and a spoon on the other along with a bottle/can opener in the handle. It was made in the 80's by Victorinox (shield and tang said so) but it had a Coleman logo (and text) on the reserve side of the handle.

Actually that's even more interesting -
as the Case Hobo has only recently added the spoon due to "popular" demand.....

AFTER YEARS OF TWEAKING, THE CASE HOBO® IS NOW COMPLETE

A newly designed Hobo with Spoon is being offered in 2002

February 2002, Bradford, Pa. - In the early 1900s, W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company made available what has become known as the famous Case Hobo. With a knife and fork, the Hobo soon became a necessity to many. However, one thing was missing - a spoon. New to the product line for 2002, Case announces the newly designed Case Hobo with Spoon in the standard Trapper pattern.

So Victorinox actually had a SAK with separable folding knife, fork and Spoon back in the eighties?

Can you please show us a pic of your Victorinox/Coleman?

Thanks,

I keep a Kershaw Ken Onion Rainbow Leek...soon to be replaced with a Strider SNG and I carry a Mick Strider SLCC Spear Point around my neck...;)

UnknownVT, that knife is added to the list of knives I need to take pics of. I'll post it here when I get my digital camera (which will be soon... seirously!)

Thanks, be interesting to see that knife.

Not to sound like a broken record (record... record.... :) )

For most pocket knives scanning is fine (and may well be better and quicker) - take a look at this thread:
some general flatbed Scanners advice

To help on a digicam decision this may be useful:

Although 2Mp is adequate for most general needs - with progress of technology some 3Mps have reached pretty much the consumer mainstream (therefore reasonably priced) the recent Canon A70 seems to have had good reviews - with this very enthusiastic one:

Here's a pretty comprehensive one:

I've seen the Canon A70 low priced at about $260

My Microtech mini Socom Elite. Never leave home without it. Also my Kershaw/Onion Leek as a backup.....Ya never know when 1 aint gonna be enough!

For those of you who EDC more than one knife -

Do the knives serve different purposes?

Is the second knife used regularly?
if so, what for?
- different from your primary knife?

More than 2?

Thanks,

I carry two, sometimes three. I carry the FRN Delica, Spyderco Renegade, and a Buck 110. I use the Delica for utility and the Renegade for self defense. The 110 is for "classy" occasions because it is a limited edition with a deer cutout in the blade. Sometimes I carry the 110 whenever I don't feel like having to check my pockets every once in a while to see if a knife is still there. There's also a P-38 can opener in my wallet if that counts.

- Thats a Spyderco Endura (am I right)?

Today was a light day:
- Microtech Mini-UDT
- keys (no blades or lights on it)
- sunglasses
- wallet
- lighter

That looks like a later version of the Spyderco Endura.
It has a hollow bolt through the lanyard hole that holds a metal pocket clip.

The older version had a molded plastic clip.

It varies day to day, but today it's:

Spydie Native CPM-440V
SAK Cybertool 41 w/LED light attached
Brusletto Balder w/custom sheath (LED light and ferro rod attached)
SOG Northwest Ranger

Magnesium Firestarter
Mini fox 40 whistle
Mini Bic lighter with 6 feet of cloth duct tape wrapped around it
15 feet of hemp twine
10 feet of paracord
bandanna
Gatco Triseps sharpener
DMT red folding pocket hone
Viking whetstone pendant
10 feet of brass snare wire
MARPAT boonie hat

You are correct, sir.

Ah... but which Victorinox SAK is that?

There are 3 models with that stylized fishy logo -

Angler (corkscrew), Fisherman (Phillips corkscrew replacement),
and a model with just the Swiss/international model # 1.37 53.72 -
it's the Angler with Pliers.

Well, there's been so much about the V'nox Tinker I went to Wally World and bought one today. It seems to have a good tool vs. size ratio. I'm very pleased with it and I appreciate all the comments about it that made me want to take a closer look.

Thanks for your input -

You can help tie a few threads together right here :)

Please tell us -
is the knife a 91mm (3 1/2") length model?
was it supplied by Swiss Army Brands?
can you please describe the box it came in?
