Since you appear to have exchanged/replaced one of the scales of the Deluxe Tinker -
is there a reason why you wouldn't simply replace the lost scale as opposed to the whole Signature II knife?
(or is scale replacement what you meant?)

I was going to post this question, but it seems to fit well in this thread. with all the hardware you guys mention, have you ever had to use your knife in self-defense?

I carry the Keershaw Blur as my primary, with the Leek as a backup. I also carry a small container of pepperspray and a 36" expandable ASP (another question, would you rather have an ASP as your primary means od defense, or a knife). Don't forget, in the hands of a trained man, or woman, the ASP can break bones or damage nerves so badly the vic can be paralized. I say, with the speed, force, and distance factor, a guy with an ASP could usually take a guy with a tac. folder, but that's just my humble and ill-formed opinion.I like both a lot.

Regards to all,

Dave

Oh, because I just emailed them for a replacement scale (for a knife I didn't have), so I felt bad asking for the signature II scale. Also I want to get a Rambler or one of the ones with a light.

Just want you to beware that the red LEDs used in the Victorinox SAKs are not particularly bright - so are only useful for very close quarters work - also some people have problems with seeing under red light (especially with the onset of old-vision:o ) - just to give you an example -

I once had occassion to use the SAK red LED to help find something - dropped in the dark shadows in front of a well lit stage, and I simply could not see the object until the light was almost on top of it.... kind of defeats the purpose, since I may just as well felt around for the thing......

Depending on your eye-sight - you may be better off with a white LED Inova Microlight or Photon -

As a brand new member and first post ever... I gotta admit, this one's a doozy. If I thought I was alone, not any more...

Leaving the house I usually find myself encumbered with:

RF Pocket: Either Leek, Blur or Avalanche
Coin Pocket: Arc AAA L.E. and Arc AAA U.V.
LF Pocket: Leatherman Micra, 'Switchblade' car remote/key, Photon-I hooked to 'Valet' backup key
LH Wrist: Rollie Explorer -or- Seiko Automatic Day/Date Military -or- Luminox Ultimate Field Chrono -or- Luminox Captains
Beltline: Kimber Custom SS Ultra Carry in 45 ACP
Coat Pocket(s): 1 or 2 xtra mags, Cell phone, various other...

I came to this forum seeking sharpening info... From the amount of info available here, I can see I have my work cut out for me. This thread was an intriguing first distraction.
