Springfield Armory XD Sub 9mm with Chris Reeve Green Beret Knife (5.5" version)

My extended EDC:

Luminox Dive Watch.......Mont Blanc Classic Pen.......Sure Fire E1E.......Chris Reeve Small Classic Sebenza.......Graham Brothers Wharncliffe EDC.......Springfield Armory XD sub9mm.......Leatherman WAVE.......Chris Reeve Green Beret 5.5".......Sure Fire E2E.......Wilderness Products Expedition Belt.
I LOVE this one:

Some quite impressive EDC's in this thread.

Personally I only carry a Leatherman Squirt P4, on my keys for EDC. But if I know I will be on a longer trip or outside town, I also carry a LM Wave, small led headlight (petzl), a flint firestarter and a fixed blade like Fallkniven S1.

In my car, I have LM supertool.

Just came back from a nice motorcycle ride and have, on me, a Spyderco Military (in a Vess leather sheath) and a Queen Gunstock D2 in my pocket, and a CRT Bear Claw that I use as a boot knife.

Almost forgot: I also carry one of those silly, but somewhat deadly, Cold Steel little push knifes on my belt, bike ring. If I need it quickly, it might be a waste of time, since I forgot I had it!!!!

My wife carries a Benchmade 710 in her purse.

I'm sitting at work right now and I've got on me:

Davidson/Chew Yin Yang Bali (shirt pocket)
Hinderer Firetac (FR pants pocket)
Strider SnG (FL pants pocket)
Buck Custom 110 (belt in a Lifter sheath)
V'nox Multi-tool (belt)
Blackwood HD Ninja (necker)

Inox X5 light
Ti Omega SMP
Perrin Automatic "Pencil"
Mont Blanc Rollerball Pen

Right front pocket:
Spyderco Military
Fox 40 whistle connected to a white photon 2

Left Front Pocket:
Bic Lighter
Blistex tube
Keychain with LM Micra

Belt:
Swisstool RS

Maxpedition Condor:
Nalgene Bottle
PSK
Garmin Rhino
Cell Phone
Pen Drive
Pens and Pencils
small FAK
....oh yeah, and my work stuff as well....

I always carry at least the things in my pockets, but I do leave the Swisstool at home sometimes. I am also working in a CRKT M16-01K as my EDC knife, although I want to get rid of it.

I just had to jump into this discussion at some point,

Garrett

Clipped to my shirt pocket is a Ka-Bar/Dozier folding hunter (AUS-8, Zytel). Bob Dozier etched his autograph and logo on the blade. He is offering autographed Ka-Bar/Doziers on his website. :)

Right pocket-Faellkniven U2 & Temperance Leaf Folder (Green G10) C69GP
right belt side-RJ Martin Rampage folder (Vangard)
left belt side- Kershaw Seagal folder and Victorinox tool
neck under shirt-Boye Basic (the smallest one)
Neck outside-Snody Karma Kozuka
keychain-Spyderco Ladybug in yellow and a Leatherman mini tool

I weigh a lot less naked !

Hattie

left pocket, money, leatherman clipit ( dont go anywhere without it ) Its my constant edc
Right pocket, kershaw double cross, I like this knife a LOT.
back pockets, my wallet, and checkbook / small pen.
On desk , a CRKT small lockback and a small Rough Riders "doctors" knife ( my letter openers etc.
In briefcase, Spyderco, spydewrench, and Native III.
And I think I have a Kershaw leek in there too, left over from carry on Friday.
In my fannypack is a 357 snubbie and one extra speed loader.
On key chain is small ladybug black rescue knife ( just in case knife)
I do change my EDC's, especially on weekends. If I am working around the ranch then I have a couple of spydies ( seconds I bought for five @ piece) that I use and knock the ?!@% out them.
Good knife huntin Jack

richard hehn folder, s90v blade, mammoth ivory scales.

I'm not into carrying more knives then I am going to use, so I will have to choose whether to EDC the Delica or BRK&T.

Don't you miss/use the woodsaw, corkscrew (mini jeweller's screwdriver) toothpick and tweezers? some of which you used to advocate?

What's happened to the cocobolo custom Camper you have?

How could one NOT miss the woodsaw!!

Of course I miss it. And the corkscrew and tweezers. I just fell for the Soldier again. It was my EDC before the Camper about a year ago, and just playing with it one day the love came back. :D

I use the woodsaw and tweezers in the woods, so I switch to my Camper once I'm out there. I wrote a review on the Campers performance in Vermont at the end of July, and the Soldier was my EDC at that point too. Like I said though the Camper is a better outdoors knife, so I guess you could call it the outdoors EDC. ;)

As for the corkscrew and mini-screwdriver: They are missed... Thats the tradeoff you have to make sometimes though.

Where did my Custom Cocobola Camper go? Nowhere. :) It sits with the rest of my collection, and when the outdoors come calling she gets to stretch her legs.

Why tradeoff?

Why not carry the Spartan?

which leaves out the woodsaw - but gains/retains the corkscrew and mini-screwdriver (small knife blade, toothpick and tweezers, keyring) without adding thickness........

Why Tradeoff? Who knows Vincent. I'm just not as rational as you. ;) I love the Alox scales, the better awl, and the nice Swiss Army emblem. What you suggest is more rational, but I love that old fashioned scout knife pattern now. So it's Camper for the woods, Soldier for the urban jungle.

Btw, didn't they change the name of the Spartan?? I thought I read that, but I'm really not sure at all.

The Spartan is still called the Spartan - ref:

http://www.victorinox.ch/newsite/en/produkte/produktdetails/detail.cfm?pid=1-3603

http://swissarmy.com/webstore/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=2350

It's been called the Spartan since at least the early 1980's.

The same configuration with the bail/shackle - was called -
wait for it ....
The Camper(!!) (circa 1967 - 1976)

Or at least that's what they were called in two photocopied dealer's catalog from 1967 and 1976 -

I wish they had kept the clip point small blades, it would give more reason to having a large and small blade (and it would look better, IMO)

Vincent,
You are something else man, coming out with all that info. ;) Wow, thats crazy about the Camper model. Thanks for the info!
