Definiately not on thin ice :)... I like cargo pants and it all fits also for the longest time I used to carry GI canteen in my cargo pocket and substitutiing it with a FAK was a piece of cake...

Hello.

I will add my EDC, it is laughable really.

-Marlboro Blend No. 27
-Zippo
Crappy Motorola cell phone
-Chain wallet with keys
-Apple iPod
-Spyderco Delica
-Spyderco Jester

I am new to Blade Forums and to the sub-culture in general, so lots of abbreviations and lingo confuse me. I am wondering if anyone (maybe UnknownVT) has been keeping a tally on the more common equip carried every day. I know there will be endless debate on what is the best, but since it seems like most people here are very knowledgeable, I would like to know what some of the most selected gear is. Possibly the top 3-5 folders, fixed, multi-tool, flashlight? Seems like quite a project to undertake to sort through all the posts. I think it would help a lot of newbies, like myself, to discovered what some of the more trusted equipment is out there.

Slvgx,
It's all a matter of what you actually need, what you will actually use, and how much you are willing to carry. ;)
Just keep track of how many times you find yourself needing something through the course of YOUR day. After a week or two of this you will be getting a feel for what you will actually have a use for.

Oh yeah.....welcome to the forums. :D

Welcome :)
Do a search for "must have" and a thread should come back about the top 5 must have knives.
Like PWork said, just think about everything you do or something you could have used to make a task easier/more convenient(sp? I've been up all night ) and search or ask here about opinions on things you're looking into. Just be prepared to lose some weight in your wallet ;)

You may already be aware that the ArcAAA is destined to become a collector's item (if it isn't already)
since recently the company Arc Flashlight LLC has gone out of business.

Oh yes I am unfortunatly well aware of that. Too bad too because I was about to purchase a ARCAA as wells. :o My light was in for service when they went under and I almost didnt get it back. I'm not sure what youre suggesting unless it's that I shouldn't carry it since it's becoming a collector's item and the price is going up. I'm not a collector of anything so I can't relate much to that mentality. :) Even with knives. I have owned many many knives but I dont collect them. I sell the old ones when I replace them with new ones. That light is the best light I have ever owned so unless the price jumps well up in to the three-figure range, then I fully intend to use it until it is unusable. So far they seem to be available for around $50 which is only $10 more than I paid for it to begin with. Seems like a waste to just let it collect dust. Besides, I figure by the time it finally does die on me an needs to be replaced, there will be better lights out there, brighter, longer lasting, more durrable, and the same size. Arc paved the way for many others to follow, and Im sure that many will.

Busse Active Duty (snakeskin handle) on a carabiner'd paracord to my belt loop.
Trojan MAGNUM XXXL condoms (ya just never know)

Today I've got:

- SAK SwissChamp in the front right pocket (never too bulky for me).
- Schrade Old timer in my jacket pocket.
- SE T610 Mobile camera phone in my front left pocket.

I'm waiting on a knife that will be put as my major EDC but its still a few weeks away from delivery (a Joker liner lock, heard good things about them, not collectors items but with stag scales its pretty attractive). :D

if i cut it down to the absolute bear essentials of what id like to carry, my clothing and bag would stay, good boots, heavy pants, heavy tshirt, canvas ruck sack.

for gear, for me, bear essentials would
leatherman wave or higher
red photon 2 led
zippo lighter

and really, thats it. id like to have the terror monkey battle mistress, but its not "essential" for my every day activities. same with the thread and needle, pad and pen. they are very very useful, but id be willing to cut them back if i could keep the lighter, light, and leatherman. for a long time i only carried the leatherman (4 years), so i dont "really" even need the lighter or the light.

my brother has commented on my edc - "if it were up to me, id carry all that, plus a rifle and a sword."

I count 6 fire making devices in that line up. I guess you don't like the cold very much. :D

At least you're ready for the when the SHTF.
