EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

I thought that's why we're here. You mean we're supposed to talk each other out of buying more knives? Like knives anonymous or something? Woah, I completely misread the room.

I was confused there for a minute. This is definitely not a self-help group--it's more like the Island of the Damned. I could save myself thousands if I stopped paying the 60 bucks a year here to fuel my habit, but where's the fun in that?

I should just get it. I have three Les George Talos, it's one of my favorite designs, and I love Les George knives in general. I own a handful of the VECP flippers in various finishes, each generation of the regular VECP once or twice, and some other of his collaborations with other makers. The Talon is the collaboration with WC of the Talos. Need to just do it already. I'll let you know for sure.

I've looked at the Talos as well but have always gravitated toward the Talon as the Wilson Combat grip pattern really appeals to me. I like Les's stuff a lot too but only have the Eagle at this point. I've had a couple ZT's designed by him and let them go, but that's on ZT not Les. I've still got a couple each of their Sinkevich's and Rexford's but found most of their other stuff I had just kinda meh.

Speaking of Les, P.C.E. P.C.E. posted a George-designed Spartan Blades Astor four pages back at #46992 that looks like a solid piece and a good value at around a hundred-fifty bucks.

Pure sarcasm in my last post if there's any leftover confusion. Yeah, any other way would definitely not be fun. Don't see a lot talking out of stuff going on here, for sure. It's worth the price to me also. It's fun, good folks, nice knives. Surely this place has cost me more than the membership price in associated purchases. The Knife Exchange alone. My word.

That's why I want the Talon as I like the Wilson starburst. I came across the Talos before the Talon was available so that was my first introduction to the design. I bought copies to not be without and am now even considering getting one customised somehow as I always found the handles a bit slick.

The ZT collaborations are great the Harpy-inspired 0920 is lovely and the 0900 and 0909 are very good. They are my favorite ZT collaborations.

I also have the Eagle and like it for a lot of reasons. Like you, I like how thin it is and it's a pretty good flipper. It reminds me of my Combat Elite Level 3G as it's also a big knife that carries very well due to it's svelte design.

Don't know how i missed that. Thanks for the help spending my money. The Harsey folder is another I'm pretty sure I'll get. Glad to see my membership at work.

It is, for the price you get a lot of knife that you can use pretty well without worry of damage (at least that's the feeling I have when it's in my hand). No flipper tab with thumb studs that deploys well, always nice to have some variety to choose from.

Went with the Benchmade Tengu this afternoon. Now we’re in that “dead zone” just waiting until it’s time to leave for a New Year’s event we attend every year. We must be getting old, because my wife and I are sitting here dreading the prospect of heading out at 8:30 pm. Heck, we should be in our pajamas already and the night hasn’t even begun.

Anyway, it’ll be a good excuse to switch over to a slightly “dressier” knife tonight....assuming we can stay awake until 8:30.

Have fun tonight folks. Let’s all give 2020 a swift kick in its ass as we show it to the door. Happy New Year everyone!

I love axes, I used to restore them! Can you tell me about the head in the pic?

Along with knives, axes are another past time for me as well. I actually don’t know a lot about this head. Found this one in a junk pile several years ago while helping a buddy clear some land. I liked the weight and shape of it, so put it on the shelf for a future project. Sandvik AB is a Swedish company and used to buy axes from Wetterlings (...but later also from Asia). Maybe someone that knows more will see this and comment.

I really like my GB small forest axe and thought this head would be nice on a similar length handle, but have a bit more weight behind it. It was in rough shape, been working on it for a few days and just finished it this afternoon.

Thank you for that. You had me at no flipper with thumb studs. Now I'll wait a few more hours and make it my first knife of 2021. Green or black?
