The bottom of the stack is a dust collector. Stacked on top is the tool box for the router.

I'd suggest giving it a thorough wiping down with a paper towel with rubbing alcohol on it, it may just be oils that are darkening the section near the inlay. It wont hurt anything, I wipe down my carry knives every day after work with either rubbing alchohol/paper towel, or a disinfecting wipe.
