EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Nice to see ya out enjoying nature instead of what looks like work in a lot of pics! 👊 That Grayl titanium purifier jug thing looks pretty sweet, I just had to google it after seeing it here. Does that work pretty good? Nice shot of the bear! We have one that lives right next door and comes and terrorizes our orchard every year at the same time on the dot. The basterd tears down a section of the 10' fence around the garden and rips off atleast one limb of the plums, those seem to be their main target. He makes a lot of work for us every year but we thought the neighbor shot him a few weeks back and we still were very worried for him.
It has been a very busy year for work, so I have been missing out on the woods. It was great to get a couple days to relax in the quiet and enjoy the woods again, but I hate it was so late in the summer. I’m pretty sure I missed all of the good mushroom harvests, since there are tons of mushrooms on the ground, but all have started to get eaten by bugs or are too old to eat. There are a couple great Black Trumpet spots up here that were clearly loaded this year, but they are all now rotten.

The Grayl filter works great. Im not worried about the creek water up here and drink it out of a solo cup often, but the Grayl does make it easy to filter anywhere and anytime without carrying an extra gadget. If im carrying my water bottle, I have a filter.

The bears have been out quite a bit this year on game cameras, and considering we saw a couple yesterday, they are definitely more prolific than in previous years. As long as they keep their distance they are a welcome neighbor. We have seen quite a few cubs with their moms this year too, so it looks like they are doing well.

Went to the ocean again today, got to enjoy the last days of holiday before I go back to were I live, where there are no mountains or sea..

That's good to hear that the bears appear to be having a nice year. I love seeing them. We've never had a problem with our black bears showing any sort of aggressive attitude, they always just run away when we see them.

Nice, yea that purifier's pretty spendy for a smaller guy, but looks very handy.

Well, there's still quite a bit of summer left, hopefully you'll get a chance to get out there more. I've always wanted to get my knowledge on mushrooms up so I would feel comfortable going foraging for them. We have a lot of different mushrooms up here in the Pacific Northwest. Cheers my friend! 🍻

Great photographs. I think you mentioned you have a connection with the Don Cossacks, interesting history. Is that you ancestry?
Partially. Not in a straight line.
Many documents were lost after the Revolution in 1917. They were simply dangerous to keep.
It is known for sure that one of my ancestors held a rather high post in the headquarters of the Cossack troops during the war with Napoleon 1812-1814, and he reached Paris. It is known that my ancestors fought in the First World War, under the command of General Brusilov. During World War II, one of my great-grandfathers was in prison, and the other commanded an artillery platoon. In the battle on the Kursk Bulge he was seriously injured, lost his sight and was sent home. He lived until 1986, I remember him. :)
But let's not talk about sad things.
Daughter, after playing Frisbee for two hours, said she couldn't move.

But the magic words "ice cream" can lift even the dead to their feet! :D

Ice cream is made for exhausted kids! She looks like she enjoys her time with you, she is very fortunate.

As is often the case, I’m a day behind the pack. It was a soggy Saturday with this Forge de Laguiole “Anteres”, one of a four knife series done in collaboration with Seize Happywallmaker, a French street/graffiti artist.

Hard not to smile when you have a “Happywallmaker” in your pocket.
