100% my fault in this case but I had a knife ripped out of my hands using them once. I got the tip too far onto the wheel. I gave the grinder that had them on it away and don't have a bench grinder or buffer in the shop anymore. I sharpen with my grinder and stones now.Paper Wheels! That's something you don't hear of often anymore! Man, they were all the rage.... I wonder why they pretty much completely disappeared from the zeitgeist? Maybe people found out that it overheated the edge a little bit or something? I was going to say that maybe the main manufacturer of them went away, but I just searched them and they're definitely still available. Don't know, but I'd like to have some, atleast for quick touchups of bigger knives. I think once more edge retention testing results came out it scared people away from using powered sharpening tools, but perhaps it over-scared them as they definitely still have their place.
Nice couple of knives there! I had completely forgotten about STR's deep carry clips back then until you posted your STR knife the other day!
WOW. Did it come like that from A. Wright or have you had it re-handled?
Oh yeah, I try to keep my bird friends happy and make their lives a little bit easier. Every afternoon, right after I walk in the door from work, I go out and refill their seed. It gives me a good excuse to get an outdoor picture of my knives too.Life is good again. The birds have seed
Whew... That must have been scary! Haha. Yeah, I've always been a manual sharpening guy, but I would really like to have some sort of powered sharpening tool, be it a small bench sander, or a grinder with paper wheels, or something of the sort for my big outdoor blades, and my friends and family's kitchen knives. I'd love to have a Tormek, but they're a bit above what I'd want to spend.100% my fault in this case but I had a knife ripped out of my hands using them once. I got the tip too far onto the wheel. I understand. If there is snow on the ground, I keep the bird and squirrel feeders full.
