EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

One thing I learned in the Navy was to not wash the coffee cup. The seasoning adds flavor, like a cast iron frying pan.

My wife washed my mug, and I got to experience Dawn-flavored coffee. Since then, a hot water rinse will do.

The Tannins kill off the bad bugs. That's how science works.

If you simply must wash a cup, try white vinegar and hot water, followed by a second hot rinse cycle. Repeat as needed to make yourself feel better.

They now have glass-lined vacuum insulated mugs, for if you're really serious. I'm thinking about getting one......

Could you please recommend a small, bright flashlight for under $40? I want to give my girlfriend a gift. I need something small and lightweight.

I bought a cheap Sofirn SC13, but it had a problem: when unplugged, it would lose voltage. At first, I thought the battery was the problem, but testing showed otherwise. I charged the battery, and a multimeter showed ~4.2V. After eight days of sitting on a shelf, the voltage dropped to 4.1V. But then I put the battery back in the flashlight and left it for a while. Over four days, its voltage dropped from 4.2V to 3.7V, indicating leakage current. It's a defective product, bad luck. I'll try returning it to the store.

But I still need a flashlight. Any advice would be appreciated.

Coast makes reasonable quality flashlights. I haven't checked prices lately. My opinion is that the "slide focus" models give up too much to the side spill, even on tightest focus.

Streamlight would be an upgrade from Coast, but they're way above $40.

Here's a picture of my wife's Coast, with my CJRB Tundra to keep it topical, and give you an idea of how pocket- or bag-friendly some of their lights are.
