Could you please recommend a small, bright flashlight for under $40? I want to give my girlfriend a gift. I need something small and lightweight.

I bought a cheap Sofirn SC13, but it had a problem: when unplugged, it would lose voltage. At first, I thought the battery was the problem, but testing showed otherwise. I charged the battery, and a multimeter showed ~4.2V. After eight days of sitting on a shelf, the voltage dropped to 4.1V. But then I put the battery back in the flashlight and left it for a while. Over four days, its voltage dropped from 4.2V to 3.7V, indicating leakage current. It's a defective product, bad luck. I'll try returning it to the store.

But I still need a flashlight. Any advice would be appreciated.

How small do you need it to be? In general, I greatly prefer mechanical switches or "clicky buttons". I like the more positive interaction and they don't have parasitic drain like electronic switches. Jaxman and Convoy have some great options in your price range. Here is the current page of the current knives and flashlights thread. You can work backwards to see more stuff.

Love that old Smith!
I love S&W revolvers, especially the N-frame Mod 29 .44 Rem mag. Had a mod 29 six inch barrel many years ago. At the time, I couldn't buy and keep. Had to sell to buy.
Recently decided it would be cool to have another. Really like the 4" barrel.
I know there are larger caliber, more "powerful" handguns. But, I'll always go with the proven Elmer Keith round and S&W. I believe it will do anything I would need it to do!
Best regards and God bless
